If using bagseed, I like the paper towel method. The reason I say this is because you're probably not going to have a very high percentage of viable seeds. No sense staring at a pot of dirt for a few days, waiting for a non-viable seed to sprout. Soaking them in water before putting them in the paper towel can also help improve your success rate.
If using a known high quality seed, I'd have to agree with la9. Put them directly in dirt so you don't run the risk of damaging the seed by handling the taproot.
