I have four seedlings that have been in soil for about a week now and I plan to transplant them to my DWC setup either today or tomorrow. I have rattled my brain about this damn nutrient solution and I guess I'm just too nervous to be confident about what I think is right, seeing is how this is my first time and I really don't want to screw it up drastically. So, my 2 main questions that I'm hoping the vets here can help me out with are:

- Since the seeds have only been in the soil about a week, is it too early to transplant?

-When it comes time to transplant, what is the simplest and easiest way to find out how much nutrient solution to put in? I have the GH Flora series and I realize that the measurements are on the back but I keep reading about only doing 1/4 of the recommended dosage and that's where it gets confusing to me...

I have 2, 3 gallon tubs that I plan on using to have 2 plants in each. I literally have everything I need and I'm wanting to take the next step but i guess i'm taking the cautious approach since they are so young and I don't want to kill them by overfeeding or under...

Thanks in advance guys, this forum has been very informative and interesting.

OK, I'll take a stab at this ...

First, you will want to wait until you have at least four sets of leaves before you transplant into your DWC setup.

Second, you're wise to be thinking about a "dosage" on the nutes. Seedlings need very little nutrients ... to much will burn them to a crisp. I grow from rooted cuttings ... and when I put them under the big light for the first time, my nutrient solution is only at 1/4 strength of that called for on the nutrient bottles. Remember though, that I am starting with established cuttings. My cuttings prior to being taken out of the cloning cabinet and being put into the vegging cabinet have gotten NO nutrients at all ... only pure RO water and nothing else.

So long story short ... Keep your seedlings in the soil for another couple of weeks. At that time, gently wash all the soil off of the roots, then put them into the net pots with the GroRocks. Keep the nutrient level VERY weak ... and as the roots start showing through the net pots, slowly increase the nutrient levels ... remember ... slowly. You'll soon learn to read your plants and get everything dialed in.

One further tip: You'll be growing in a DWC setup. Be sure that the solution level is kept around 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the bottom of the net pots. You don't want the net pots submerged into the solution. The roots will seek out the solution, not the other way around. The bubbles breaking on the surface of the solution will keep the bottoms of the net pots wet ... and that's all the moisture your roots need.

Good luck ...

I'd wait another week b4 transplanting, just to strengthen the system, forget the 2 plants per pot, they will compete for space n light, tried it,ended up cutting the inward facing brances, get a PPM meter.Always start nutes at starbucks strength(piss weak!)seriously 1/4 strength@3 weeks.
