Well, first of all I can pull more than 3g from a oz of trim. Yield is strain dependent, but 3g to 5g from a zip of trim done qwiso is average. I only do one run from each batch at 30 seconds wash. A zip of trim would be ok to roll a bunch of joints and give out for free I guess, but I wouldn't smoke them unless I was out of bud for some reason. Wax and oil IS expensive. Figure at $20/g it's a real deal. So, you get 5g out of a zip of something that you wouldn't otherwise smoke, and you just job a sweet $100 head stash of oil, or an extra $100 to help pay the electric bill.
 
I just use shake/trim. It would be a total loss to use the bud I take to dispensaries to make bho with. I keep hearing Nor Cal is flooded and weed prices are crazy low but places like harborside,cbcb and bpcc are all still paying 3200 -3400 for top shelf.

Ah, Lake County:) I spent some time working on a quasi legal medical farm there in 2001, by quasi I mean the feds had raided the place a couple times over the past few years and we never really new if they were about to hit us on any given day hehe... holy crap we smoked like chiefs lol, when we'd drive down to San Fran, we'd smoke 5-7 finger width joints during the ride, made a little bit of finger and kief boxed hash there since I had developed a taste for it in Europe, but bubble has/bho and the rest hadnt really caught on too well yet...thankfully lol or I'da been the poor bastard straining bags 10 hours a day prolly, good times:)

you guys ok with dumping zips at $105? Less if you are selling any kind of bulk. I've seen wax as low as $16g if you get an oz of it.

I dont do bho but with ISO and trim or crappy weed I get more like a gram off an ounce which skews the results even more.

So is the majority of wax being made with shit that would basically be thrown away anyway? Or is weed so devalued in california that people are making wax because you cant sell bud anymore? (to many growers)

We all use trim... So yes totally worth it, if you dont grow, most places without an MIP license sell it for about 20.00 an ounce of trim
 
8 years later.....how do y’all feel about it now? I’m in one of the few non legal states left and i run only blk market quality buds thru a 58g (says 58g but an O of fluffies stuffed in there fill it up) closed column with dewax jacket and get 20%_25% yields. 5-7 gs of fire. I keep my jacket full of iso and crushed dry ice to keep chlorophyll and lipids in the flower and i let it soak for hours. My supply of dry ice usually dictates how long.
