bho vs qwiso

so youre saying the 50/50 iso solution which would make it 100 proof is the same as say a bottle of liquor in potential flamability.. so by that wouldnt it be more dangerous to pour a bottle of 151 in a dish and let it sit out vs a qwiso wash that was 75% or less? i was under the assumption the different types of alcohol might act differently when it came to flamability...

50/50 iso/water using 99% iso as is standard.. yea they are about the same in flammability as high proof ethanol.. I don't think anybody made that claim though...different types of alcohol are different flammability wise ethanol has an lel of around 3.3 and iso around 2% and no matter how much water you add the fumes are still unchanged and could cause an accident if it gets to concentrated so don't think its completely safe but yea

anyone ever try hot water extraction? use hot water to melt the resin off the material and then boil the excess water off. seems a lot safer than both BHO and ISO

i honestly dont see the risk of flamability then with a good qwiso extraction then, i talked to a guy today that extracts with the qwiso method and puts it outside laying a black bandana over it to attract heat and quicken the evap but also allow it breathing room.

200 proof is 100%
151 proof is about 75.5%
100 proof is 50%

90% ISO = 180proof
70% ISO = 140proof

Generally, anything over 100 CAN burn but with too much water in it, it will burn very cold. 150+ will burn hot and burn your hands in seconds. You can probably let 110-120 proof burn on your hands from 5-10 seconds.. :) I have had my fun distilling 180 proof ethanol for scientific purpose in a home water distiller. I would use the pure sugar + yeast. No bottled rum or anything, it has additives for taste, color, ect.

Thanks for this thread. I do Etoh 95.5% extraction, I may try a version of this...even use my distiller to reclaim the Etoh--I would have to use a fractional column to maintain the %ABV, as I reclaim the alcohol. Hmmm, maybe just strip the alcohol out and save the alcohol; do a separate fractional run to bring things back to 95.5%. I am intrigued by the idea of water washing...Cool, some things to think about~

Hmmm, Makes me want to do a trial with some of the oil that I already have. Melt some THC oil in some 95.5% (not certain the amount), add it to a gallon of boiling water...boil off the alcohol -- jar it and place in the fridge....siphon and repeat as you suggest. Any thoughts?

QWISO is safer and easier to do at home. Keep in mind it can still poison you so don't be dumb, have good ventilation.

Personally, I'd just make some super fine bubble and be done with it, no solvent and if you know what your doing it's pretty damn pure.

In a medicinal/lab setting BHO all the way man... meaning all things being equal and professionally made, BHO is the winner.

BHO is FAAAR more popular here in CO. In-fact I haven't seen any iso extracted concentrates for sale at any dispensers. And I'm on weedmaps everyday lookin around, hehe.

The only thing people use ISO or Everclear for here is reclaiming BHO from oil rigs for cooking or just str8 up shots of the solution, respectively of-course, hehe.
