i too never found much info, if any at all on the strain big bang 2 so i had to trial and error the journey and what a journey thats been,
first of its been quite a while since i was able to grow in the comfort and safety without any complications arising, ive since bought a house with the misses and took advantage of that move to my hobby, every house i viewed was viewed in the understanding of were i was going to be growing my plants in and not for me , lmao. every question if not the first was how bigs the attic -can i take a look , when finally we found the right house for the job,
i chose the attic as it was 30 ft long by 8 foot wide, heighest peek point was just a little over 6 ft but hey fuckit. i made 3 section , 10ft x 8 ft each.
instead of moving the furniture on moving day i was at the wood merchants ordering my wood, insulation, kingspan, the works.i had electric wired into a 30amp circuit which has its own ringmain, igot it done in no longer than a month, and just over £1,500 in cost materials and a crate load of teabags and milk.lol a 1 man job can take some doing, but was happy with the outcome, anyhows regarding the strain- i decided to give dwc a go as i heard countless lads showing me results and from soil to this this what a result that made to the growth spurt, jeeeese. mummy i did a doodoooo.
ya was saying ya wanted to veg for 5 weeks, this was my idea but in just 3 weeks i had 3 ft plants,i flipped them from there on and from this day im battling to clean my buckets and change them over in fresh water buckets as there now 6 ft each, there meant to be short and bushy i.e 3 ft.i have to lay them down to reposition them into fresh water buckets, what a ball ache, wondered why they called em big bang for a reason.
.....
now you may be asking me why the fuck did ya let em outgrow the room, good question. my lighting is 2 x powerplant aerowings with 6 " cool flanges on, i used the full cooling with glass, i had no speculation regarding the distance from the light to the plant i.e a certain distance like say 12" i had them around 6" away, and this is when they grew really bushy and i mean bushier than ya misses bumcrack.
they grew so bushy that i had to trim then back because 3 of these filled the entire 10 x 8ft room, literally.now in flower the more bushier they got and the distance from my lights 4" i had to raise them as 1 plant wasnt getting any light, weeks went by and i was rasing every 2 days, eventually i ran out of head room and was maxed at 6 ft, 2 of my plants are bending into the light covering the full light screen with the main cola leaves blocking the light output. i tried bending the branch but she came back fighting. i had to snip it off i was annoyed for days, then the other plant did the exact same thing. ffs.so i have even light throughout the 3 plants and there getting on fine. limited space is so annoying when your a 1 man operation trying to do this shit.
5 weeks veg, hmmm id stick with the 3 weeks because there sure gunna bush like fuck. dwc 20 litre buckets though,
now the problems i was having are as followed.
first time using dwc, great way of growing if you ask me, they were great through veg and would be great through flower for me except due to my 20 litre buckets getting bunged up with root mass, the problem i was having is my root system was the shape of a dougnut ,in fact it was more like a plug in a bathtub to be exact, i was having problems bubbling my nutes in the buckets even with 2 blagdon air stones, ya know the blue ball ones.the maintenance was daily as i was having very high ppm levels and my ph levels were fluctuating like crazy, even though i was in a hard water area i set my nutes at a max of 1.4 ec, days later they were around 2.2 ec ,if left for a week it would be 2.8-3.0 wtf.i get the whole thing if the e.c goes up the nutrients are too strong if it goes down there too weak. ph on the other hand was a trial and error for weeks till i figured out why, i never bubbled the water before hand, adding my nutes bubbling some more then ph ing my solution, bubbling some more again then using it. this is a must .....lesson learnt.
as for the ppm i was having problems for ages, 1 plant out of the 3 seemed to stay there and was a little smaller than the other 2 , the taller ones hated it.
out of the 3 plants i noticed the smaller one eating all them nutrients, she was looking sexy so i decided to transplant here into a 80l storage container and stuck 3 air stones in there.so i would get maximum aeration without the roots interlocking the gaps of the 20l buckets.shes looking beautiful. the others are still suffering as of today with ppm so there now in water for the last week.the good one is still in nute solution as i only plan to use the pure water for 3 -4 days flush. this is a trial and error .i.e 1 with 1 without.
if anybody is wanting to see any pics -videos id be more than happy to show you.
what i have gathered with big bang 2.
the conditions.
temp 26c get a fan controller.
humidity in veg 60-70%
flower 50-55%
1.8 EC for maximum bud growth
ph 5.8 always
