Biggest mistakes as a newbie?

Hey,
Looking for mistakes you've made as a first timer grower to help me on my journey. Please

Probably in the following order lol

1) Overwatering
2) Not checking PH of water and/ or nutrient mix - this goes for soil and hydro
3) Overfeeding
4) Underfeeding
5) Not paying enough attention to air extraction/ circulation
6) Plants being too hot/ cold (Also affects nutrient uptake - too hot, plant takes up nutes too quick, too cold - plant gets mobile nutrient deficiencies)
7) Pests - bringing in clones/ plants from outside into the indoor grow environment etc

Less is more when it come to fertilizers and welcome!

Buying a 2x2 light for a 4x4 space, and then only having enough money left for a 3x3 fixture.

Pay attention to "flowering footprint".

One of mine was “Shocking” the little clones. I put them directly in the sun and the cold plus the different light schedule shocked the crap out of them. They bud right away and get all weird looking. Thought I was doing so good lol

ventilation. you have to have air exchange and temp regulation.

My first grows the only mistake I made was harvesting early. But in my defense the Columbian sativa I grew from bagseed back in the 70's wouldn't have finished outdoors here anyway. Other than that the grow went well. I planted some seeds straight into the ground in a little clearing I made by some railroad tracks and the plant grew. There really wasn't any mistakes to be made.

The biggest mistake most new growers have is doing too much fiddling and farting around with their plants. Leave them alone and stop staring at them. Stop touching them. Stop watering them everytime you look in the tent. Stop dumping excessive amounts of products on them.

Another mistake is new growers mistaking nutrient antagonism aka lockout of one nutrient due to the overabundance of another nutrient as a deficiency and then adding excess amounts of the locked out nutrient.

one, maybe two variables changed at any time at the most. I make too many changes and not know which are actually impactful ones and which are not. As I figured this out, I’ve been able to understand a lot more. if you do too much in a small amount of time, your just throwing darts.

Buying a lot of things that I didn't really need. Have a bunch of products and lights that currently are just taking up space

1) Asking if the light you just bought is any good.... then returning it.

2) Overwatering.

3) 17 bottles of nutes with cartoon labels.

PS, I did't make mistakes 1 & 3.

Growing different strains and assuming I'll be able to remember what is what....Labeling is a MUST!

-Using fox farm nutrients
-not ever checking ph or EC
-wasting money on additives that dont do shit.

I'd just add, investing too much time and money before asking for help.

I dove in head first with zero experience growing anything and learned along the way.... learned some hard lessons.

I suggest asking about your plan before starting. We love to tell people how to do things!

As already stated under/over watering was my biggest mistake. One suggestion do your home work before you pop that first bean. When asking for help be detailed about environment, feedings etc...

When it comes to the forum, the #1 mistake is to ask a question after already messing up, instead of asking about doing something BEFORE doing it.

The #2 mistake is getting advice and then doing something else...because you don't like the advice. Usually, the advice is don't do it. And you do it anyway.

I promise you will overwater. That's a given. We all did.

Filter and fact check your info against multiple parties. Last grow i read somewhere about a high ec level, did not bother to see the way they were growing, and tried it on my grow.

I almost lost the whole thing due to not reading my own plants and trying to push another plants agenda on it. I hope that made sense it sounds kinda weird.

No mistakes on my first run, second run though:

Getting clones and not having a separate isolated room to veg/clean them…. I started from seed first grow went well, got some clones that brought mites to my garden and of course they didn’t show until flower.

This is a mistake I’ve even seen seasoned growers make.
