I swam a lot and that chlorine odor from a pool just kills me. It's why when I finally put in my own pool I went with a hypochlorous loop for chlorine. No more smell, rotting bathing suits or greening of sunbleached hair
My Sister converted her home pool to saltwater a few years back and they’ve never been happier. That said, if I’m cleaning at home with say, Fantastic w/Bleach, my kids will immediately say, “smells like a pool in here” - our brains and scent association are fascinating things :)

Same here. My brother and I were on the HS swim team and on a swim team in Summer as well. I always swam backstroke in the relays cus nobody else wanted to...and our neighbors had a pool...so if we weren't practicing/at a meet we were in the water there....

Then I moved to Colorado. Not much swimming/pools here unless yer staying in or trespassing at some hotel pool/hot tub. :D Interesting about the hypochlorous approach. I had no idea. Haven't been in/near a pool in years. :( I do take a quick "yeeeeeooooowwww!" in the creek once in awhile though. :o

One of the strongest tags for memory storage is olfactory. A smell can provide an eidetic image which is the most complete form of recall. We used scents for testing in neurosurgery.

This talks a bit about it:

Chlorine odor is a huge deterrent for me too. My understanding is the stronger the smell, the more reaction taking place - I.e. lots of kids peeing. Enough to make me think twice. Home pool sounds really nice!

The sun was actually out for awhile this morning, such a tease. Had the front come through about 8:30 last night. It was similar to a midwest squall line with no joke rain and wind. Next round supposed to be here later today lasting through Tues. On a positive note our snow pack is getting built up well.
Mornin.
