Used some 4'x8' lenghts of garden fencing and made circles to put around them.
That’s a great idea. I had chicken wire around them, but think I would alter my approach next season. Even this morning, the little terrorists were diggin’ in there again >:(

Plants are big enough now that it’s less a concern, it’s just that first four weeks to set canopy that I missed this year. Last season, no issues. Had ‘em flat as pancakes. Wondering if because we had a mild winter this year that they are just more active/abundant.

Success! All 4 seeds have sprouted. After 2 days floating on top of the water little tails popped out. Now 2 days later little seedlings have appeared. That's 4 days from when I put them on water till they popped out of the dirt. Hail float Tech!
I am trying an experiment.
I have trouble keeping the temps down.
We're trying to save energy by setting the house thermostat at 78. The tent doesn't have to get very warm before I'm hitting high 80's. If I set the exhaust fan at max it's too noisy.
In the mean time I've added another 4" fan. So now I have two 4" fans running slow but quiet. We will see if that keeps the temps down. If it does I see a nice cheap 6" fan on Amazon that may be in my future.

Along the @TCH, @Laughing Grass & @shnkrmn line of thinking ... does Floraflex have anything large enough for an outdoor grow that comes with a plastic lid?
I am looking at a 5 gallon system using Floraflex parts. This system specifically. Dunno if you're looking for automated irrigation but this has all you need for that except a pump and a res. $106usd for 4.

They also have these matrix caps in diameters up to 18 inches but 5 gallons is the largest pot size they offer. You can just get standard nursery pots with that diameter.

Here’s my secret weapon for making tomato sauce, kind of a bowl trimmer for maters. Skins, seeds and purées them in a flash, and has different sized grates for chunky or fine. I roast them a bit to loosen the skins and add some flavor, you don’t have to though.

I had never considered skinning them like that. I just drop them in boiling water until they split.

1/2 from seed....1/2 are clones. All are in 15 gallon fabric pots in 707 mixed with some black as night compost. There are 2 more in 15's in the veggie garden along with about a dozen small fry, 8" reg seedlings that I couldn't stop myself from popping. Those are ready for 1's now...then they get sexed...then into 2's for the duration. Old people and their old ways....

I scaled back on tomatoes this year but plenty of good farmstands around me. I am about to harvest my first green beans of the year. Always psyched about the first bean feast!

Today started out cool and delightful but by 1 o'clock it became completely tropical and muggy. Then, with nothing showing on the radar we just got a total downpour with massive thunder. Popped up out of nowhere although there are big storms passing North of us.

I have something like this for my harvest.

We got it as a house warming present that was in the back of a cabinet and totally forgotten about. It's also a meat grinder.....and why I started making sausage when I found it.

I love the thing and wish I started using it years ago :blsmoke:
I have a kitchen aid with the meat grinder attachment as well, it’s not as easy to clean, but does work very well too. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it if I didn’t have the mill.
