Blaze & Daze

End of day ritual- bend for a friend! But don't stoop for a group.

Had one on me this week, just crawling thankfully. I've been creeped out by anything itchy since, thinking there's a bug crawling on me.

Deer ticks can carry more than just Lyme. Unfortunately I've found out the hard way. We've had about 20 ticks in the last week on me or my kids. Only one bit me. Sent it out to get tested and it had nothing thankfully.

#fuck ticks

The browns and dogs don't carry Lyme but can carry other nasty shit as well. They're all evil.
We are hyper vigilant about 'tick checks' at bedtime. We live on a lot of acreage and the thought of being imprisoned to a tiny section of it is a no go. I don't ever remember a tick on me as a kid in the 80's and the same town and area is full of them now. Lotta deer herd up in the wintertime and that's where a lot of problems start with the ticks/Lyme. Not that small rodents aren't carriers of them as well, ticks aren't choosy about hosts.
When we find a tick embedded, we bag it and freeze it. If the bite mark looks at all suspicious or gets worse, we go for antibiotics and send the tick out for testing.
Gl man. I feel your pain. The thought of one of the kids getting Lyme or something else is a tough one.

Try this stuff - I went turkey hunting several times this spring in THICK woods & only found one wandering around on my clothes. Trust me on this and it works through several washings. #

Our daughter got it on her 5th birthday. That was hard. I've delt with it for more than 25 years. Same with my wife, she had it pretty bad also.

The problem with that is my kids go thru about 6 clothes changes a day during summer. We'd have to have cases of it lol
Might be worth a shot. I haven't seen the aerosol version of that, that looks very easy to apply

I even sprayed my jeep and truck interiors with permethrin. It does work. It just hast to be on everything that goes outside.

That's the first one I saw last week. Hidden on the dead part of the leaf.

Had to get up early as I had to see the doc about the second gel shot in my knee. I don't see why they don't give anesthetic for these shots, they are a bit painful. I'm already feeling some relief from the first shot, doc says that's a great sign to feel anything this early. The full effect usually kicks in a month after the third shot. Looking forward to a relatively pain-free summer. It's gonna rain so I'm not gonna chance a rip on the bike, gonna take a long nap instead to make up for the 4 hour sleep last night. Gotta fun dinner party gig tomorrow evening, should be a long drive but easy gig. Hope everyone's weekend is starting off right...
