Blood red inside the bud. Help!

So while I was cutting fan leaves on my plants I accidentally cut a bud in half, there I saw red blood coloring inside the bud. Does anyone know what this is and what might have caused it? They are towards the end of 5th week. I believe my plants might have gotten cold stressed but I couldn't find out any info about cold stress. Room temp 80 degree with lights on and about 50-55 with lights off.

strain has alot to do with it....unless its a mold or fungus. DSC00697.jpg the inside of this bud was blood red as well!! cold will always bring out color!!

That's how my plant looks like also. I am actually growing GDP. It started turning purple on 3rd week, which is way too early? Is the red blood inside the bud bad for its growth? Currently my plant is on it's 5th week flowering which looks like the picture you posted but not as purple

I really think color is dependent on strains from colder climates, that darken themselves so they can get more warmth from the sun later in the season, especially if they aren't seeded or are seeded late, and haven't thrown off their seed yet. So they need to extend their lives just a bit longer so they can successfully throw off the seed. It's an adaptation is what I am thinking.....

So I shouldn't worry too much about the red blood coloring inside the buds? As for the fan leaves I was only trimming the ones that are blocking lights. Also I want to ask if anyone might know if sea salt air is bad for the plants or not?

Never thought of it as pigmentation with
a purpose but sounds logical.

I've been kicking this around in my skull for years.... The pigmentations are strain dependent ie: longer season varieties would be more red as they wouldn't suffer from the cold as much.... So wouldn't need to be as dark in color....

hence why why you never see Panama purples.... Unless someone mixed a purple Indica or sativa with a red panama variety... Just as an example....

anyone know of purple varieties that naturally come from near equatorial zones? I've only seen red myself, unless someone bred the that way..

Was just reading a description on Purple Haze hybrid.....

This vigorous cannabis hybrid expresses the best features of its parent strains — a soaring Haze high combined with the thick resin production of the best Indicas. While not tall enough to ‘kiss the sky’, plants are statuesque and beautiful, with long, running buds that possess pleasing density and a sticky coating of trichomes.
Purple Haze is darker than most Sativas closer to the deep green of Afghanis than the lime green of equatorial strains. When exposed to low temperatures near the end of flowering, leaves and calyxes can rapidly change colour from dark green to Lavender or violet.

i think we might have this nailed down....

Have seen temps from 50-55 personally cause change of color then same plant in 60-65 night temps no change. So climate plays a big role as well as genetics. I would not be to concerned.

@sativa Indica, it's a hybrid. Look up the term Mexican Haze.. :)

i had a mexican once once she was 5' tall, I used 150w hps. And 2 x 4 foot flo's standing on end as side lighting, and stuck it in the picture window as often as I could. First plant ever to full size.. Well... Full size being relevant to how long i let it veg... I couldn't believe the length of the side kolas on that thing...... I wished I still had access to seeds from that plant... It was 25 years ago.

lol! I remember it was like 1991-2, George HW Bush was president, the stupid war against weed was in full swing. It was EXTREMELY DRY that year, couldn't even find Oregano! Dude bought 2 zips from me of wet leaf..... From that plant, called me two days later wanting more, lol! 200 a zip for leaf!!
