took 5 seconds on google. For some reason these MSW mason jars were different. They were prettier than the ones I had seen before, and it took me a while to figure out why. They actually have an aqua tint instead of the clear glass we are used to seeing. After some research I discovered that these aqua blue mason jars are antiques. They were produced in the first half of the 20th century before the Ball company (America’s primary producer of mason jars) switched to clear glass. The color is commonly called “Ball Blue”, after the company that made them.

uh.. really i thought they made them especially for that. no really im not that naive. i figured its just like any other fruit or whatever youre storing. it was saying somewhere that it protects whatever youre storing from light. just wondering if that would protect the thc..]

light does degrade thc after being harvested..thats why for curing they need to stay in a cool dark place, even with a tinted jar...lights gonna penetrate

If it is indeed an older jar, not something to imitate old, it is probably worth money. My parents are big into antiques and blue glass is generally sought after with antiques. I'm not sure why blue was chosen, but I know that they had some blue glass juicer and I happened to be in the room when it fell off of mom's hutch(I still think it was related to paranormal activity), but dad lost his shit. I guess it was worth some $200+.

Oh and don't try and speed things up, time = quality.

i think its real it says ball real big then perfect mason on the bottom
I have no doubts of it being an authentic Mason jar. I have a lot of mason jars, but some times a company will make things that resemble what was done way in the past. Like how coke will sometimes make bottles that resemble coke bottles from the 50's or 60's in glass bottles. Like I said though you may have an antique there in your hands.

Tinted jars were made because light just doesn't degrade thc it degrades a lot of herbs and spices.

Don't break that blue jar, it's worth some cash now, they're hard to find.
