Decided to start a journal just for the here and now, it'd be nice to have a place to come post pics and stuff again. I did my first journal (in my sig) from february to june/july of this year. Had a great time with it and haven't stopped growing at all, just stopped posting it a lot on rollitup, the in-between time from then to now wasn't all that exciting either, some crappy genetics no doubt. (thanks, th seeds, the third time in person I've seen your genetics put out crap, after sage and kushage) For anybody that followed the first journal though, I did reveg my wonderful starbud from hortilab seeds, which to this day is the best weed I've seen still on the plant in person.
So onto the real intro-
the setup-
flowering-
5'x5'x7'9" gorilla grow tent
two sun system LEC 315 CMH fixtures
8 inch phresh hyper fan for exhaust
6 inch vortex s-line fan for intake from outside (only when lights are on)
veg-
4'x4'x7'7" gorilla lite line grow tent
two area 51 RW-75s (white leds switched on only)
two foot, four bulb t5 ho fixture (soon to be removed)
two area 51 4000k w90s (ordered them a week ago, shouldn't be long now, but not here yet, these will replace the t5)
6 inch vortex s-line fan for exhaust
I started out using this "moonshine mix" from batch 64 as my medium, It seriously is advertised toward pot growers in colorado, and it could be the store I was getting it at, but I got fungus gnats straight out of the bag like every time. I switched to roots organic original blend bought from a different store, and overall it looks and feels like a better soil anyway. also noticeably no bugs. there's still a few gallons of the moonshine mix in my garden, but it's all buried under roots organic since transplanting everything.
I also started out using smart pots, I still like em, but wanted to try with something less... flexible, for lack of a better word. I grabbed some rootmaker pots, which I love so far, but it's really shitty that they don't come in a size larger than about 5 gallons. Because of that, I picked up some 25 liter hercules pots (about 6.6 gallons) which I have a couple of plants in. As I expected though, I'm not a huge fan of the enormous aeration holes. I can see how it depends on the medium, but I don't see it really working out long term for me, I gotta start trying airpots, though they look like a pain in the ass.
I started out using the bio-canna nutrient line, and adding 4ml of general organics CaMg+ per gallon each feeding, this is what I'm still doing. Thinking about switching to biobizz, or going nuts with it, there's a new nutrient made here in my town called "mammoth p" that I wanna try. They say to use it the full cycle, though more in flower, and that it's pretty much phosphorus and microbes.
Without further ado, here are some pictures of the here and now-
Starbud, the original plant from my first journal, revegged and flowered. By the way, sometime during the first journal I named this plant, even though I always thought it was really stupid when people would post pictures like "matilda isn't doing so well" or "sarah's getting nice and fat"
but I can't look at this plant and not say the name "Frostithicus"
Frostithicus might die soon, but her offspring will live on, for fucking ever if I have anything to say about it.
