U.S. Border Patrol agents nabbed a diver allegedly smuggling marijuana into the United States as he crossed the St. Clair River in a scuba suit.
Around 1 a.m. Monday the Saint Clair County Central Dispatch notified border patrol agents that a citizen spotted an individual swimming across the Saint Clair River near Marine City.
Using a video surveillance system at the Operational Integration Center on Selfridge Air Force Base, a camera operator spotted the diver and saw him pulling a dry bag behind him.
The agents apprehended the Canadian man after he got out of the water near Marine City. They found a watertight PVC cylinder holding more than 8 pounds of marijuana tied to a seawall ladder.
The man and the drugs were turned over to the St. Clair County Drug Task Force.

You got to be kidding me , I lived not far from there on Walpole Island and we smuggled more Chinese people into American than most could count .. One quick boat ride at 3 am and watch the china men flee into the states once upon the soil .. 5K a piece for this boat ride across the river and I imagine we would have taken this tube of pot over for a few doobies lol .. The trick for us though was to get back to treaty waters and quick once we made the move with our boats and went out of boundary into the water of the states ..

pre 01 in NE it was literally a walk in the park. Leave at 10pm get there 3am. Lay around all day do the same on return. The more ambitious types would
snowmobile in the winter and 4 wheel in the summer. It was not rare to see other like minded folk using the same trail. (from what I saw on TV once)
