Finally harvested yesterday. These were on a south facing hill, very protected, they were the only green thing in sight. Large plant is 2 years old, others are clones from it. The buds are dense but the flowers are small. You can't see any frosty trichomes with the naked eye but they can be seen with a microscope. Is it worth the using the flowering fertilizer? I just used compost. It is hard to get enough flowering time, but it was a warm fall so I let them go. They are ak-47 from Nirvana. Last year I only had 2 females out of 10 seeds so I kept the big plant inside through the winter and took a few clones. Deer and slugs and lack of rain almost ruined this years grow, but they pulled through. teakman

That's actually amazing but I'm a little confused. So, they are AK-48 that you started LAST summer? And when they started flowering (late July?) and you saw only 2 were fem you brought the one back inside and revegged it, then put it back out this summer? Also, when did you put it back out this year? I would think that strain would have finished by october.

Hi, here is what happened- I got the 10 AK-47 seeds from Nirvana last year and got them growing well outside, there was plenty of rain and sun. When 2 of them showed male flowers in the middle of the summer I was sure the rest would be female. Unfortunately, most soon showed male flowers and I was one dejected human cutting down one head high plant after another until 2 were left. I was pretty sure they were female but then one either rotted at the base or was blown over by the wind. Talk about 10 little indians. I cut it into 2 pieces and tried to root them. The top died and I was about to throw away the bottom stalk but examined it and found little root bumps coming out of it. By september it finally had new leaves and stems. I kept it inside and it showed female flowers, I increased the light and grew it all winter and set it outside this summer(waist high at this point). When it really started to grow I took a few clones. I had to put chicken wire around them because of the deer. You can see brown pistils and trichomes with a magnifying glass, but the flowers didn't form big clumps, maybe because of the weather. Now, the other plant I had last summer I brought inside last september and kept lights on it for a couple months- it formed golfball sized frosty buds. (6 footer) I guess you used flowering fertilizer with your grows? teakman

Yeah man even when growing outdoors you really should use some kind of nutes. Unless of course you're using some kind of stacked soil or your soil has some kind of time released nutes in it. Hell, even a weak miracle gro solution would have done you much better I think.
