Look at these maps. The Spider farmer is up top and a migro light on the bottom. The Vivosun map provided on their site seems fishy at best so I’m not going to compare it. The Spiderfarmer is just not giving you much on the edges. This other budget light is way more uniform.

At the end of the day the best LED for the price is going to be whatever is on sale. I would also lurk the daily deals thread

Lowest price I've seen on amazon Fiskars 399241-1002 Micro-Tip Pruning Snips, Non-Stick Blades, 2 Count $16.36 Currently $16.97 for the 2-pack on Amazon. Anybody use the AC Infinity branded shears, same design? Less than $8 for 1 of those, but haven't heard how good they are.

That light is way under powered for a 4x4
Forget those kits you can source everything for cheaper..
We need to know what your goal is to do here..
How much product do you need?
Will you run another run after the first?
Whats your budget?
Do you intend growing hydro or soil?

Hydro is less forgiving when you messup but it if you catch problems on time its quicker to fix those problems..

A good hydropen will set you back some cash but your grow will have less issues if dialed in
If you find the sweet spot to your nutrient lineand learn what your plants needs

Its good to get a light meter

do you have space for a 4x4?

a 3x3 can save you space and needs a cheaper light

theres many variables to this, we just need to know what it is you want.

Yeah ditch the kits as billy said.

decide on a tent size 2x2/3x3/2x4/4x4

4” inline fan is good for the smaller tents. Once you get into the 4x4ft’er you need to go 6” or more.

you will also probably want a carbon scrubber/filter. You won’t need this until later once you’re a few weeks into flowering. Sometimes I don’t use one but I can get away with that where I live.

a grow light. Most people recommended LED unless if you are in a cold area or have free/cheap electricity. Once you pick your tent size people can help narrow this down.

Fans for airflow. You want airflow below the plant canopy and airflow blowing from above towards the top of the canopy. Air flow is very important.

pots And medium. I personally try to keep it organic so I’m in soil and 5gal fabric pots. There is a lot of different styles and techniques. Hydro/aero/soilless/soil. I’ve only grow in soil so do your own research.I’d go either soil or coco for beginners

nutrients- we will go down that dark rabbit hole once you decide on what medium you are going to use.

ph/ppm pens - will be needed for most grow styles except for soil.

I would go with a 2x4Ft set up. Most new growers either quit after a month or two or they dive into the deep water. If you hate growing- you didnt invest as much into your 2x4. We own this trailer so if needed I can go as far as cutting through the wall to the outside for ventilation with no repercussions. This is also the room I'm trying to grow mushrooms in

You’ll need to be able to keep the room air conditioned. If you try to set up a tent in a 85degree room the inside of the tent would be in the high 90’s.

you also need to vent the air from inside the tent to outside the trailer. If you vent your hot humid air back into the trailer you are going to have problems.

people do two tents because they have one for vegging and the other for flowering plants. That way you can harvest more frequently.

last thing; make sure you have adequate power for all of this equipment. A 2x4 (same as a 4x2) with a decent LED can run 400 watts once you get everything running. Don’t overload circuits.

So colder air, more airflow too? Then in my bedroom closet? We keep the window unit ac and fan in there pretty much constantly on. I can cut a hole in the wall for ventilation no problem. I can fit 2 tents in there too

Vivosun makes OK tents. The Vivosun lights ... not so much. I have one of the Vivosun 2 x 4's and have no issues with zipping or unzipping after nearly 4 years.

I'll second that. I throw 380 wall watts ( two 210 watt lights each running @ 90%) at the girls during flower and they seem to love it.

They can. I am running those lights off a normal 30amp. basement outlet. The lights go through a programmable timer which is connected to a basic surge protect power bar.

The term "wall watts" - or true watts - refers to the total available output of the lights themselves. Each one of my flower lights can pull a maximum of 210 watts.

My favorite strain is girl scout cookies. I like a "weedy" taste

With very little effort you can easily get a single plant to fill a 2X4 space. I'm not particularly good at growing indoors and I generally get at least 200 grams of good flower per plant growing autos indoors under an LED. The trim alone generally yields 5 - 6 grams of bubble hash as well. It's easy to fill a grow space pretty quick. Someone that knows wtf they're doing could easily exceed this.

And yes, go with a bigger light, you'll be glad you did. I like the ViparSpectra line and am now running (2) XS4000s in a 5X5. I started with (1) XS4000 in a 3X4 and it was very crowded with 2 plants; seems to be a good value for the money. The 3X4 is now a dedicated dry tent. There's some other nice light suggestions from others here as well. Good luck and have some fun with it!

Sounds like one plant would be more than enough for one person. How long does dried weed last? If I were to run just one tent/one plant at a time, would I be able to comsume 200 grams by the time the new plant is ready for harvest? I consume about 1/4oz a week

A plant I chopped on Sept. 21 gave me 220 grams of good flower that I'm smoking now and 5 grams of bubble hash from the trim. That plant took 101 days from sprouting in soil. I'm an average grower I imagine, nothing special here. I'm sure someone with more experience could easily beat it. Probably by a pound! lol

Just to keep it simple. I would think that if you learned how to be efficient and used a SCROG, you could squeeze 16 ounces out of a 2x4 tent. Takes 4 months….so that gives you 4 ounces a month. How’s that sound? That’s with some practice and additional experience.

i like the 4x2 because it allows you a backup plant in case one dies. In fact, I just downsized from a 5x5 to the 2x4 because the larger tent generated more heat and humidity than I wanted to handle. I’ve had luck with AC Infinity and Gorilla tents if you’re doing research.
