Breeding plants

If I had a 2 female clones in a sterile closed off environment, and I kind of stressed one to the point in hermed, would that produce usable seeds in the other female clone?

If I have my 2 best producing strains, and did that with them, would it be worth it? a nice experiment? or a waste of time?

it should produce fem seeds if its a cloan thats how they make feminised seeds from what i understand they get the cloan and change the light cycle to make it hermi and thenthey collect the seeds and sell them for outragous prices :) i just got into breeding my self so i dont know forshure but im 90% positive that i read that if its a cloan or a fem seed plant if it hermies it will produce feminised seeds

You basically are breeding a plant to become a hermy from what I understand. I am not really sure but I think there is a little more involved than just breeding a hermie with a viable female, I think thats what greenhouse does..lol. My last batch of WW was half hermies!!!

Its rewarding. I did it in a ditch effort to save a strain I thought wasn't worth cloning..

Ok so from what I am reading it will produce seeds that I can plant in a later generation? I am very excited to hear this. Would putting one plant in a pot and moving inside and out do this? or is there a better way with a timer? XD

I have a strain that if it works I would like to have more seeds at the end of the season.

Actually of your still interested there is a great article in this months skunk re: female seeds. They are using chemical sprays to self polinate plants which intern produce a seed of the actual plant, pretty cool!!!

Colloidal Silver, you can make it yourself for very cheap.

There's lots of threads around here with members who have made and succesfully used CS to create male flowers on a feminized plant.

I have a thread posted here where I make it, never updated the thread but I used the batch to turn a feminized Lemon Skunk, collected pollen and pollinated a Blueberry Gum. Never finished her out to harvest seed though.

regards,

My dad used to make me drink Colloidal Silver all the time lol.

So you just spray a bud, on a flowering female, with colloidal silver? Then you will harvest feminized seeds?

Yeah I have heard about using that and looking into buying it, it forces a plant to herm. what do you need to make it yourself?

No you start spraying a plant 1 week before 12/12 then you keep spraying throughout flower and use the pollen on another plantthat is female

How often? So you collect pollen off only the buds you've sprayed, to apply it to another female plant? Do you harvest the sprayed buds, then let the plant finish flowering as a female?

If I'm asking too many questions just ignore me lol. I'm curious and want to try this.

From what I read -your plant wont finish as a female - the plant will put all its energy into producing flowers and pollen, and yeah it has to be another female plant(not 2 cloned plants from the same mother) - the buds you put the pollen on will get seeds(you can do it on the lower branches without effecting the tops what what I read but I have not done it yet)

You can use two clones from the same mother, or two different strains, it does not matter as long as you have pollen and a flowering female to fertilize.

If you are using CS, The plant that is sprayed SHOULD NOT be harvested for bud; most people do not heed this warning and will spray only a branch or two and collect pollen from the male flowers and leave the other branches to flower and produce bud.

Once the pollen is collected, then the fun pollen-chucking fun can begin.

What strains have you bred together? I have about 10 strains to work with once I find either a cheap close supplier of silver or a cheap close supplier of CS

That was what was stated in the article re:pollenating different plants. could the pollen not be used on the plant you have turned to give exact copy of the same plant?
