Broken

so..i was doing regular maintenence and bending one of my bigger plants tonight, and i broke two of the main cola stems!!! X__X not OFF, but they both crimped at a 90 degree angle....ive heard that they can repair themselves, so i duct taped one and hung the other with some string...is there really nothing i can do now but pray they will be ok?...ideas?!

they look amazing right now and are heavy..worst comes to worst...would i just have to cut the two colas and dry them early? theyve been flowering on 12/12 for only 40 days.

advice??

sounds like your best option is to harvest those early and let the rest finish I don't see it recovering from that and still growing...

it will be absolutely fine. I do alot of experimental plants each grow and ive gone so far as to break every single branch on the plant. this is not as big of a deal as your thinking, within a week they should be nice and strong and recovered. once they do remove the tape.

thanks guys, removed tape already..no breathing going on at the site of the injury otherwise. and just are gonna let em stay strung up till/if i see rot, then ill give em the ole wack..may be a bit early..but i dont think itl make much difference, they are looking amazing!

very interesting! i wish i had the space to play around too. would that be the same as the 'pinching' or 'bending' techniques? i was interested in trying them next grow to up my yeild..but since this was only my second, i was sketched out enough just daring to attempt UB's topping technique. lol

yup, thats the technique, taken to the extreme. i forgot to mention something though. When i said "ive gone so far as to break(pinched and rolled technically) every single branch on the plant" i forgot to put "at the same time". lol. ive also broken many branches both accidently and on purpose like yours was broken, i have had branches where their will be only a tiny bit of tissue still connected to the plant and just went and held them together like it was b4 the break where it should be and then get some superglue, make sure its all lined up right, and circled the break, then i hold it in place for a few minutes till the glues dried. you'd be amazed at what these plants can survive and recover quickly from.

I just harvested a critical mass plant that went "Critical"
Almost every cola on the thing had gotten to heavy and bent completly downward about halfway through flowering. It was just to much to try and get the plant untangled without causing some damage so I pretty much folded the colas over top each other for support and let it go. Most of them where growing straight down by the time it finished but they where all super huge and super healthy despite my best efforts to completly f them up.
It wass pretty funny, like the plant had grown nugget apples or something.
More then a few of those stems could be described as broken (no resistace and bent to over 90degrees), but they kept on keeping on.

thanks alot! yeah, i strung them up higher last night and today they seem OK, a little bit of browning by the bend site, but other then that, no other discolorations or blemishes..so ill wait. how long before i know rot is going to be a problem?

When the bend turns brown. This happened to my buddy and he saved it by pushing a pin into the bud and attaching to the drywall. It probably wouldnt have been my method of choice but it worked for him

thanks! are we talking any amount of discoloration? or if it gets to be a gross rotten looking appearance?

ive never had one rot in all my experiences doing it. unless you have horribley high humidity i'm 99.99% sure it shouldnt. it will get real mushy feeling and will kind of stink if it starts rotting.
