Brothers' Grimm: Cinderella 99

I figured I would skip some of the boring and go directly to the fun part.

This is Brothers' Grimm: Cindy 99. I purchased the seeds about 14 or so years ago and they have been in my freezer, ever since. 4 of 10 sprouted and I had 2 males and 2 females. The 2 females were identical and this is a clone of one of them. The original females were inbreed to their selected cindy99 males.. I have maybe 300 f2s now..


The smell is like a sour grapefruit/pineapple and they are fattening up nicely. This one was grown in half-gallon cior/perlite, flood-drain, non-ACT(sterilized) and ACT brew of; bloodmeal, guano, boiled and filtered bonemeal, soluble seaweed powder 1-0-18, citrus acid, elemental sulfur @ a pH of 6.5, 3000ppm, floods 2x per day, RH @ 40%.

This is @ 3.5 weeks of 12/12 blooming.

You're going to love that smoke, I know I did last time I ran the pineapple BG...although mine had more of a mango smell/flavor.

I once forgot about a half-eaten Thanksgiving turkey which made it's way back to the frozen depths of the abyss - in my freezer.. It must have been there a solid 2-3 years.. I nuked a little and tried it for shits and giggles, it was one of my beer days, needless to say, it was awful! To wash the taste from my mouth, I grabbed some guacamole, which was near-by in the freezer. The guacamole was even older - it turned into a type of alien plastic, if i remember correctly, with the consistency of velcro.


..I believe the freezer is real bad on drying things out.

I have noticed, if you don't often transverse your seeds from frozen to room-temp, and open the seed bags to let the moisture accumulate and thaw, they will stay a very long time as a frozen live-product. I have seeds which are almost 20 years old and they grow with about a 20-40% germination rate. 10 years seems to be the cut-off for well frozen seeds.. After 10 years, I notice I go from about a 90% germination rate, down to about 50% in the 10-12 year period. At 20 years, they seem to hit another natural wall, germination rate falls even further. I have seeds which have been frozen and have stayed as such for many years, only a few times were they briefly removed and partially thawed. I think partial thawing and re-freezing is the real killer..

Mature cannabis seeds will probably keep for 20-30 years in the freezer and have a germination rate of about 10%-20%.



One thing I noticed about this Cindy 99 is that is seems like it is a very close match to some other strains, like; Chemdawg, Double SD, Sour Diesel, Lemon Kush, Jack Herer (obviously), and a few others.. When i was trading some seeds with Rez a while back, knock on wood, I grew a number from his personal stash.. I am confident he used Cinderella 99 in some of his hybrids.

c-99 is the holy grail imho ..its a super fast flowering plant and smells like a fruit instead of a true pot plant..its a staple in my garden at all times now.. i got my beans from female seeds and started with only one from a pick n mix and its a true cindy from the pics and grow traits.. the only issue i have had is the leaves tend to yellow out faster then most plants in flower.. but its smell and taste is by far the sweetest and smoothest strain of the brothers grimm/ c-99.. there are several like the x-line and the outdoor line.. this breed actually started with a jack herrer believe it or not..here is my girl i just harvested one plant in a 5 gl bucket with air stones, using hydration pellets , general hydro nutes and 0-10-10 kool bloom during flower.. 55 days from show of female signs.. most trich's are cloudy with some amber..keep an eye on the trich's they tend to get milky early so wait for shows of amber before harvesting..good luck with her she is a special lady and if you want a perfect plant for production and not have to wait till your next harvest then just cut 10 clones every 2 weeks then when they root slam them into flower because they will stretch twice the size..
I also had a plant in my tent and it had spider mites so i went and looked everything over and none of the mites were heading to the c-99 so don't think she is bug proof but they liked my pure indica's more then c-99..

Here is a little update. This is at about 4 weeks or so, maybe a couple days more. She is getting fatter and I like it.

Same here on the yellowing fan leaves, and it drove me nuts b/c of course I thought I was low on N.

It's the only strain I have seen this trait exhibited, thus far anyways.

You are totally correct, I think this strain does not like too much light. She seems to go yellow at less than 20" inches or so from a 1000w hps. I have other strains like Cherry Pie which LOVES being at about 12" from a 1000w hps - c`mon, thats just too close.

anyway, that is the good and bad from having a multi-strain garden; i.e. c99, Cherry Pie, Ken's GDP, L.S.D., UK Cheese, Black Dragon, Blueberry Kush, Agent Orange, Sour Diesel, ect. It seems like each plant will pack on about 2-4ounces per half-gallon potter.. I am happy to sacrifice a perfect and single strain yield of 30%-50% more for a little variety and flavors.
