Brown spots on lower leaves

I have a small plant (about 2 weeks old) that has been growing good until i started to notice brown spots on the tips and edges of the lower leaves. I would like to know if this is a common deficiency or if it is something else. Light info: One 20w 6500k LFL, One 40w (100w) equivalent 2700k CFL20121203_221650.jpgSpots are also on the other plant on the same set of leaves.

Yea the stem is very skinny but its pretty sturdy, the stem on my other plant which was grown the same way is thick so i dont know what caused it, but you say putting light on the stem will help it or just more light on the leaves?

I had the same thing happen just ignore it, stick to the schedule :-)

Dude those lower water leaves usually die soon after sprouting anyway. In 30 years I've never seen a pair last beyond week 4. If you blow the plants with a fan the stems will thicken up a lot. Are your lights within a couple inches? If not they should be. I use CFL and rarely have more than 1" internodes, regardless of strain, it's just a characteristic of CFL grows when done correctly. It looks like your girls are stretching for light. I am using 16 23w daylight CFL's over 7 plants 24/0 and they look as good as my MH/HPS grows ever did durring veg. You probably have enough light for one plant if it's close. It is smart using that LFL, I use T-12's pointing up from the bottom with the CFL's above. This works great as long as I use LST so the spacing from cola to light is consistent across the top of every plant. If I just let my Sativa's go natural I'd have to have many more bulbs.

Thanks, so having the LFL under the plants shining on the underside of the leaves works well? If so i will deffinately do this because i will be able to position my CFL above the plants better without the LFL in the way, I do keep lights very close within inches and i have my fan on them to strengthen them they are doing much better now, as this thread is a few days old.

I am certainly no expert, but it is what I do and I have great success with my grows. When they are young I lay the T-12's on the pots pointing straight up. After 16" height I mount them to a board which points them horizontally at whatever height I choose (depending on the bush). I think the CFL's would probably be enough but I like redundancy, and when growing weed, the more light the better. I think it's good to have that 6500k LFL when the CFL's are only 5000k (my situation).

True, well i will try this tomorrow, Right now I have the LFL above the plants and the CFL to the side of them lol so i have it kind of backwards so when i move the LFL the CFL will go in its place, im also bending the one shown in the picture now i was told it was safe and ok to do so when they are this young so i did it to just that one and i have my other plant which isnt bent so i will see what happens.
