If you press when it's wet it would mold. Wait till it's dry and jar it like somebody said. If you press it you rupture the glands and it degrades quicker.

btw, i do understand that people behind the counters at head shops and hydro shops etc... dont know their ass from a hole in the ground however, this guy owned the place and SEEMED to know a great deal. he also said that once he made so much hash (box screen) that he pressed it with a 2 ton floor jack and a 2x4 in the basement.
that reminds me, he was talking about kief, maybe kief needs to be heated/pressed? idk..

ya the reason is dry kief has small particles of leaf in it. Because its dry its impossible just to get resin heads. Very small pieces of plant matter fall threw the screen and this makes the kief not stik together.. Bubble hash is wayyyyy purer. Just resin, so it sticks to itself with little pressure. The only reason they press kief and heat it up is to make the resin stick to the green, and then that green sticks to more resin and so on. Its only presed to keep it from falling together. Like japan said. Pressing hash will pop the resin heads and it will loose its flavore FAST! Trust me i know from experience. Pressed an ounce of hash together, and after 1 week and only smoking 7 grams, and the stuff went stale.. lost all its wounderfull flavors.

Not in potency but it does change how long it lasts. Think about it. You press all the resin heads, they pop, and all the oil drys out. You just lost half your flavor in a week. Even in a dark cool place.

Good point Miles, thinking about it like that makes sense. So is bubble hash just best stored in a dark bottle in powder form?

Exactly. I take mine when its still a little damp and run it threw 2 metal screens so it turns into a powder. It also dries best like this. No chance of any mold, and you get the cleanest taste. You also dont have to hold a lighter on it as long, which is great because high heat kills thc. I just put it into a powder, let it dry for 3 days, (depending on how much you make) and start the curing. Taste great before the cure, but taste amazing after a week or 2.
i also run mine through a mesh screen i use a kitchen strainer. just make sure to dab off all the water you can with a paper towel and pressing screen before pushing it through the mesh strainer. then i let it dry on cardboard. i like to press my hash with a pollen press once it is dry, i just prefer a pressed finished product than a dry powder. good luck
