Bubblegum glum

I have increased my water to 55 gallons over 2 days, running at 2/3 strength of NPK. She still seems to be chugging along with greatly abundant growth, but the older leaves are passing on. Could it be the "natural" process of cannibalization of minerals due to the abundance of other nutrients or the overly dense upper canopy causes it to abort the leaf?? The soil ph has been consistent for 10 days now at 6.5, with a weekly calibrated soil probe. My friend recommended that I top the bubblegums due to the overly dense tree formation it is creating. Is this too late to do for a natural, outdoor harvest?

These photographs are color balanced for daylight, but gives them an eerie green colour. haircutmaybe.jpg bubbleglumbushy.jpg bubblglumtop.jpg bubbleglumbee.jpg

I also live on the 32lat. The structure I am building around the big three, will have a drooping trellis net that falls from 4' attached to the frame. There will also be a second trellis that is above the girls, with adequate slack to allow upward growth. The top is to be covered by backboned pvc pipe and clear plastic, with a 30% uv shade cloth that can be floated 6 inches over the top.
