Bucket DWC, Super Skunk, ak48, Northern Lights and Hawain Maui Wowie

Hi guys,

This is my 2nd bucket DWC grow, ive got 4 buckets running each with 2 airstones and its own pump. Ive put alot of effort into this grow and im hopeing this one will get to the end!

My seeds are all fem'd, the strains are Super skunk, ak48, northern lights and hawain maui wowie. Ive been hearing so much about these strains (music, friends, tv, everywhere!) i just had to try them for myself! The super skunk and ak48 are growing really quickly!

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Heres some pics i took today, day 3 of veg growth.

These ladies are currently on 1/4 strength canna classic A&B and a quater strength of rhizo aswell until they become a little more established then i will slowly raise the food upto around an ec of 1.2 and see how they cope with that

Everything seems to be going pretty well so far but its just started raining here a fair bit, anyone know what the temp diff is like if for instance i sat my buckets on a towel each? Its pretty cold in the res compared to the room =[, i tried an aquarium heater once and it burnt the shit out of my roots, stoner frendly suggestions greatly appreciated! It can be as much as 20 degrees fahrenheit lower in the res than the temp, currently sitting on the bottom of the tent which is on a concrete floor. I might towel 1 or 2 buckets and see if they do a little better.

Hi guys, just a short update =]

The super skunk and ak48 are already double the size of the other 2, can anyone shed some light on whats at play here? The 2 faster growing buckets are sitting on a towel, the 2 slower ones arent, do you think they could be getting too cold? Or perhaps just the genetics of the faster growing strain?

Right now the 2 buckets not on the towel are at around 60 degrees, the 2 on the towel are about 63, its really early in the morning tho, usually during the day they sit at around 65 - 75

Hi guys, checked my tent this morning and the maui waui had fallen over and the northern lights is growing all crooked and weird instead of straight up like the others. But! i think i found the problem the lights they are sitting under has shitty black patches on the tube and they look like they are flickering compared to the other set of lights, the 2 plants sitting under the good lights are doing really well. Something so simple that i completley over looked!

The super skunk is going nuts! its got roots hanging down into the res now, ill take some pics tommorow!

Haiz Kriz 65-75F water temps are actually really good. Most shoot for 65-70F, but I hear 75F and up can cause root-rot and algae growth. You shouldnt have those issues with those black buckets tho I had one of my girlz grow kinda crooked as well when she popped. When she got her fill of the light tho she perked right back up no worriez. Btw, I was j/w if your 1st grow died?? That sucks if thats the case. The ongoing process of learning...its the pain and the pleasure is it not? lulz. I dig the setup. Could you share your type of light and whatnot as well? Thanx and happy growing!

Hi Minerals =] yeah it look a bit of paint to make them all completley light proof haha, they are originaly white buckets that used to carry industrial amounts of washing powder . Yeah my first grow died, due to noob mistakes, root rot, pH shock etc etc. This one is going much smoother! Im using gro-lux lights at the moment, i think they are around 20w each, and i have 4 of them. I like them for veg as i can stick them right up in the ladies faces and they dont mind

The maui waui is still struggling to support herself so im just using a little rubber stopper to prop her up, hopefully she recovers soon now with the new lights!

Day 19

Hey guys, for about the last 3 to 5 days the roots have been losing their white sparkle and are starting to go a bit more limp and slightly beige. Can anyone give me some advice as to what this is? Its day 19 and they are on full strength nutes now, can this becaused by too much additives / nutes? I dont think its root rot as the plants are usually under 72 degrees

Ive just put the super skunk in plain pH'd water to 5.8, ill see how she goes compared to the rest! Also i just broke my 4th pH meter! FUCK!

Today is a good day! My pH meter fixed itself! And i worked out 2 products i was using are similar root development additives, and i used them both at full strength so i think it burnt the roots with too much salt or something =[

Day 41

Hi guys, havent posted in a while but here it is!

I swapped from my fluro's to my 400W HPS but my hood sucked and my whole tent got way too hot and was around 80F most days, it was only like that for about a week, i now have this awesome cool tube with ducting to suck all the heat right out of the tent i also rolled up the vents down the bottom for even more intake. Im thinking about setting up an intake fan down the bottom of the grow to help cool the buckets also.

A few weeks in i added too many root additives and they burnt and went brownish. I backed all that off and now i have great new healthy roots. Today i discovered scale bugs on 2 of my plants which are the obvious cause of the constant deficiences ive been having with those 2 over the last few weeks. Ive picked off the ones on the stem and sprayed the eggs i could see in the jiffy pellet.

I would of liked to had more growth by day 41 but i think my mix ups with the nute additives and the lights and these bugs has slowed them down considerably. But rome wasnt built in a day n all that! Let me know what you guys think

I'm thinking of venting my hoods. Was the temp drop pretty big?

Yeah i have a ppm memter, i use a knock off brand of the truncheon stick, its pretty good =]. The temp drop was awesome, my hps is about 6 inches from my plants now and they arent burning

I just checked my plants today after leaving them for a few days and they are growing really well, the root mass is thick and white, no root additives at all seems to be the way to go for me!

Thanks guys Nice to see some people stopping by! I just checked my ladys for the first time in a few days and im blown away at the growth im getting out of this 400w cooltube, there are a few deficiences so ill chuck some dr. repair in and try and get them back on track.

I swapped over to cyco grow A and B today because of the results everyone is saying they are getting from this new product, also its half the price of canna! Yeeeeah!

My superskunk looks like it has almost stopped growing, still got nice white roots and pretty green leaves, not sure whats going on there =[
