Bud Candy- What does it do?

OK, so I'm a newbie 5 weeks into flowering on my first ever grow with a Grand Daddy Purple seed, and the girl is over 30 inches tall and looks beautiful, save for the occasional burnt tip on the leaves. The colas look like they are going to be huge and I have 4 supplemental lights at 2700K helping the Aerogarden light which I have had to disconnect from the base and mount on my own stand.

A friend (who is the one who has been talking me thru this so-far-successful grow over the phone from out of state) sent me some of this bud candy stuff, I have been using it since about 2 weeks prior to sending it into flower. ( I didn't read the instructions right away and didn't wait until it was in flower, but it seems to have had no ill effects.)

My question is, what exactly does this stuff do for my plant, and how much longer should I use it? I have what I believe is about 3-4 more weeks of flowering time left, and I have heard all sorts of different things about when to stop nutrients, (2 weeks prior to harvest?) and when to stop using the bud candy (only for 6 weeks?), which is pretty much just magnesium from what it says on the bottle. Is it going to hurt to use it for 6 weeks of flowering since I used it for two weeks prior to flowering?

Any help in this matter from someone who has used it would be helpful.

Additional info: It is in an environment that gets up to 109 degrees on some days, and drinks about 3 standard water bottles full of filtered water a day, plus ice cubes I put in the reservoir to help cool the roots, and yet has thrived in this environment which many said would not work. Just FYI.

Thanks.

I should have said it has gotten up to 109 a few times, but is usually between 98 and 107degrees on a regular basis... ...but summer is here!

Well, as I said it is my first time, but you tell me, does she looked stressed? I haven't had a day under 102 degrees up there in over a month... ...is this about what she should look like at 5 weeks of flower? I see a lot of Calyx' but also a lot of sugar leaves, so how long until they start looking like the buds I buy?

gdp is a 60 day (4 week) flowering strain, now the only sign i see is there is very low calyx and tricomb production on the plant she is producing allot of leaf in the flowers which could be caused by the heat. the plant is trying to cool off so it produces more leaf than calyx to transpire/sweat to cool itself down. you really need to get those temps down a plant can almost cease all production in those temps that could be another reason she looks so behind in flowering. anyway it will look like the bud you buy once it is harvested, manicured, dried and cured so you got a while lol.

.
it burns a hole in your wallet, and thats about it.

plants dont uptake carbs.... thats why they have leaves.

if you were growing in organic soil, you might gain some advantage with your repackaged diluted blackstrap mollasses with processed beet juice aka bud candy, but if your going hydro, all your doing is giving something for the pathogens to feed on.

happy growing :)

I assume you meant to say 8 weeks, as that is about 60 days, right? I don't really have a way to cool it down in there, as it is the only place I can grow in stealth. I was thinking of the mountains up in Mendocino County in California where the stuff grows like crazy, and the days there are in the 90's all summer long, which in direct sunlight has got to feel like 100-plus to the plant. I have a constant fan going on in there, but it is sort of like an attic, so I'm kinda screwed until the days cool down and I start my second grow. Just have to see how it goes I guess. I am starting to see red hairs developing, and am keeping the reservoir water as cool as I can...

Well, the stuff was given to me free, so that's not an issue, but the molasses comment confuses me, as all the ingredient say it contains is magnesium. Is that not good for the plant?

yes 8 week, if you cant cool it then there is nothing you can do she doesnt look unhealthy just not producing like she should is all.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I should add that it only gets up to those temps for about 6 -8 hours a day, and then at about 7 pm it cools down to between 80-90 degrees, so since that is during flowering time I am remaining hopeful.

So, I forgot to ask you, do you think this means it will take longer than 8 weeks to completely mature? And if so, how much longer? I can't see how it would stop production, as I would think it would never have started producing, since it has had that heat issue since it was 8 inches tall...

Have you considered adding one of those small $100 air conditioners? All you would need would be a window to put it in, or cut a hole in the side of your grow room and mount it in. That would get your temps to a more desireable level.

I am kind of a bodybuilder and i have had better results by giving my body only what it cannot produce.
So since i relate growing to my life i do the same for them. Your plant process there own carbs, proteins. All they need is elements.
If your gonna do an additive. Try to find just one. I use this stuff called massive. google it. its an all in one product. its about the same price as bud candy. I use that and hydrofuel A+B and a touch of PK nutes. Try

LOL...I just checked out the website for those - MASSIVE is the world’s best flowering additive

And people give Advanced Nutrients crap for their marketing....too too funny.

I'm sticking with Bud Candy. It works for me and it's worked for a lot of friends that grow too. That's better than any cheesy marketing thing that Massive seems to use. LOL I'm still laughing....

Well, bad news. I came in the room on Wednesday to find every single one of the 5, 7, 9 and 11 leaf leaves wilted beyond help. I guess it got to a point where it couldn't take it anymore and just dropped them all at once. Did an emergency move to an air conditioned room where I have it now, but even the sugar leaves have burned tips. There are some small leaves on some lower branches that still look ok. Don't know if they will be enough to photosynthesize the rest of the buds? I am still seeing Calyx, but do not know if it is going to be savable. Anyone know what I should do? I am going to be so bummed if I lose the whole thing. Can they come back from something like this? Should I spritz water on the leaves? Help!!

yea bud candy does burn a hole in your wallet.. 30$ a quart! i got 10 gallons of blackstrap malasses at a feed store for 15$ :) it weighed 70lbs! haha, ive been
using about 10ml per gallon.. amazing..

ive noticed in some fruity strains the bud candy does make a nice difference in the aroma and smell of the buds.. literally a candy smell..

Here is what she is looking like... ...what do you think? Is there any chance this can come back? I took these pics a couple of days ago, and unless I'm imagining it, it seems like she is getting greener again...P6240100.jpg
