hey nat....im just wondering when do you harvest? Ive read that you only should harvest when the crystals turn amber or does that depend on the strain?
here are some pix of my 2 girls. ones a sorta purple Indica and the other is a unknown sativa......when do you think i should cut em'? Beautiful girls btw.....mouthwatering mate!

I reckon that both those plants could be chopped right now if you wanted them to be and they would provide you with a good smoke.
They look from the pics like they have hit well over 50% of the hairs going brown.
I have never harvested by looking at trics,i always harvest when,depending on what buzz i want,either 50% of the hairs are brown for an uppy high or when 75% of the white hairs are brown for a more stoney buzz.
The sativa i just harvested had about 90% brown hairs when i took her down as i wanted a serious knockout pot as i love to mix different weeds with different levels into the same rizla.
Having said all that i really know my strains well so i would follow the tric colour advice as it is the most accurate way to tell as all strains are different and some strains are hard to tell from just the colour of the hairs.
In all reality i am not a very advanced grower in technical terms and i do everything by eye and just hope for the best really.
Your plants are looking nice though and to simply answer your original question i have harvested different plants at different times for different buzzes.
I harvested the pppxblue bud at about 60% brown hairs,the mostly sativa at 90%,the mostly indica at about 80%.
This gives me a load of different buzzes and if i am growing a strain that is new to me i usually take a small lower bud and dry it quickly and taste it and smoke it to see what its like
Also is that your puck of hash in your avatar and if so is that from silk screening or bubble bags?

I dry my weed in cardboard boxes basically until it is touch dry and a bit springy still,then i put it in coffee jars and i always stash a jar away of each weed that will be jarred for 4 months.
So really there is no set drying time as a bud that weighs 3 grams obviously drys quicker than a bud that weighs 15 grams.
The rest just gets dipped into as i go along as i only have a small cupboard space i can only grow limited amounts.
If i had the space to grow a load and i already had plenty of weed stored i would leave it to cure for 4 months just as they do in Amsterdam as it really does improve everything from flavour to potency

Well your plants are looking great anyway,best of luck with the harvest.
When you grow outdoor plants its so nice to have such a load of weed that you can make some high grade silk screened hash.
I really miss that silk screened puck hash,but every attempt to grow outdoors for me these days has gone pear shaped for one reason or another and my cupboard doesn't yield enough to warrant making it for me as i would cane the hash and have no weed left

Ok this bud is getting smoked up tonight so heres a couple of last pics.
I have also decided on a name for this weed but i have to keep it a secret for the minute just in case someone else uses it before i do.
Only a couple of weeks for the final straggler that i planted from seed straight into 12/12 to finish and then im going back to 4 weeks of veg minimum depending on the strains responsiveness to fimming which because i have just crossed this strain with the triploid male i will have to wait and see what comes out.
I have an idea for a new soil based grow container which i will also reveal on the next grow in a few weeks time which may not even work but im hoping that it will and that i will end up with 50 eighths from 1 low yielding plant grown in a maximum of 16 weeks.(I hope)
