Hey whats up guys! So like clockwork budrot is back in season. I did things a bit different this year in hopes of combating it, by spraying serenade and starting my grow a bit earlier in the season. I usually harvest round November first, but this year I'm ready for harvest within 14 days max which definitely helped beat some of the rain and cold temps. My scheduled harvest is right around October 5th which is ten days from now. Yesterday when I went to water i did the usual inspection of each branch and noticed about 4 small spots of browning leaf each on different branches, not normal brown like leaf is dying leaf but the fuzzy brown mold appearance. I cannot pinpoint if it is definitely budrot because it hasnt spread enough to really tell, but i have had budrot in the past so i am suspecting it. I removed the infected areas one by one and sprayed serenade on those wounds. I am going away out of state this weekend and forecast seems to be getting worse and worse. May get some rain at least one day which i know could really worsen things. It seems that serenade helps but definitely isnt a cure. I spray once a week but it really is impossible to cover all bud sites esp when your dealing with a bush not a little plant. I have heard of the milk solution: 1 part skim milk to 4 parts water, is it worth giving them a spray tomorrow, is it too close to harvest? I cant spray serenade anymore because i want at minimum a week of it to wear off is milk just as bad? Another thing i was thinking is if i only have had to remove 3/4 a gram tops of infected tissue, how bad could it progress over 10 days? thanks guys!

it's mold...
milk is foul..i wont ever do that again...
just watch for it and remove infected bud asap...rot can move super fast...
if it gets awful it's time to pull it...

Any spraying whether serenade or milk solution is just as bad as rain right now. Your best bet is to try to get out there n shake off the excess water with-in your buds till chop time. I have to ask if the rot you speak of is just on the leaves? If so, are you sure it isn't blight? I hope it is as you will be able to make your Oct 5th chop without much problems. Peace!!

I would clear some of that side brush out of the way to get better airflow. With that brush around and under your plant it's just going to be damp all day.

what is blight exac? i have heard the term but do not know much about it? It is really only on the leaf tips it seems. It isnt damp or raining yet, it starts sat, so i felt the milk solution would maybe slow it down? It is a guerilla grow in a very populated area, if i would compromise my cover now by chopping away brush that wouldnt be smart. Plus the pics deceiving since its from far away, the whole plant has airflow.

Damn man that sucks. I agree with 5150, from your pics it looks like a lot of side brush/damp area. I do not know your situation and the proximity of your plants in relation to where you live and I am not going to ask. But I feel the best prevention in your situation is to be proactive about shaking moisture off the plant as MUCH as possible. I do this every morning when there is dew on my plants. and when it rains I shake them pretty frequently during and after. i feel this is the BEST way. good luck! I hope that shit don't spread because you have a beautiful tree right there.

I couple years ago, one of my spots was in amongst a stand of trees with good sun exposure during summer. What I didn't plan for was when fall came and the sun was lower in the southern sky at crucial points in the morning and evening.. After a substantial rain period I went in to see how everything was doing. To my horror they were just covered in what looked similar to ring-worm but on plants. Hence my findings and research into blight. There are many different forms of blight but the general decay of plant matter every fall is the basis. Mother nature at her finest!! I did a massive copper spray to try to get it under control and it worked some-what, although I wasn't near harvest like you are. Hence why I said to shake excess water off your buds. You don't want to be spraying your plants with anything this far along. If it gets really bad, better early than nothing at all. For Blight, Some years are worse than others but what I noticed was that most of the trees leaves all around my plot, had their leaves covered in little brown spots (blight). Unfortantly in the end someone ripped my plants and I didn't get to see the final outcome. :( I hope it is blight and not bud-rot. Like I said, blight will for the most part attack at the leaf stucture in the beginning. Like most decay it consumes everything eventually. Peace!!

I have the same issue. I noticed bud rot on Saturday, cut it out and torched the surrounding area to burn what spores I could. Last night I had to do the same thing to 3 more bud sites, removed one bud all together :( so far I've lost about 4-5 grams to bud rot.

Blight looks like a black dead spot (on any area of the plant)

Mould is fuzzy (on dense flower areas with little airflow)

White powdery mildew looks like a white powder (typically on leaves)

The milk solution is to fight WPM not mould (bud rot). Personally I used a BBQ lighter to torch the surrounding areas where I cut out the mould. I have yet to see any return in the torched areas but it's only been a couple of days.

Our weather is looking okay for the next 2 weeks with only a few showers. The morning dew and high humidity is what is going to kill us.

Good luck from a fellow west-coaster.
