bud rot? please help..

my plants have been in flowering for about 7 weeks now. i have a problem with one of the plants. i dont have a camera to take pictures of the plant but the buds are turning a nasty brownish color and have a nasty smell as well. can someone tell me if this is bud rot and if i should just throw the plant out? only the main cola and some of the bigger buds are turning this way. if someone has a picture of bud rot they can show me please do.

Just a sec, I've never heard of bud rot. Changes in color are normal with the maturation of bud, but a "nasty" smell? Does it smell like something completely different from the pleasantly musky, almost rotten, smell of marijuana?

Here's some info I found from another forum:

"Look for one or more leaves in the middle of the bud that have lost some color or are drooping slightly. If a slight tug detaches the leaves then look at the base of the stem (leaf stem). Mold as I have experienced it starts on the inside so dying leaves are the first sign. If the leaf looks like it died from the base of the stem out then you may have problems. If caught early removing the infected area or whole top should fix it."

Check your buds now even if you have to tamper with them.

Bud rot starts on the inside of the bud, and can not be detected
just by looking at the plant. Cut out any bud rot, and for future
reference, good air-flow is essential.
