Bud Size Question

Hey guys, my plants here are 22 days into flowering and I'm a little concerned about the bud growth at the internodes...the top of the plants have good bud development for the amount of time they've been budding, but there isn't much development in the middle.

They were vegged under CFL's for like 2 months and I just put them under a 250w HPS at day 20 of flowering. Since then I have seen some improvement at the internodes but I am wondering if the leaves will grow out more enabling the plant to fill out? I just hope I didn't flower the plants while they were still immature..

Here are some pics. You can see the tiny leaf growth in the middle.

Imo

1. The cfls probably created more space in between you internodes

2. The 250w hps doesn't have the greatest light penetration. Your lower buds and ones covered by fan leaves will not fill out well. Make sure the light is as close to the plants as it can be with out burning them.

3. Some strains don't produce colas. Some will create golf ball buds all over the plant rather than sold colas up the whole branch.

If I were you I would defoliate a little bit slowly. Remove a couple of the large fan leaves that are blocking light to you lower buds every couple days. Also try to get that light as close to the plants as possible with out burning them.

How many plants are under the light? How big is the tent? Is it just the one 250w hps in there?

Thanks for the tips! I just lowered the light. I have 5 plants under the 250 watter. I was thinking about defoliating but really don't want to unless necessary...

Take a look at these pics...do you really recommend defoliating?

Actually now that I can see the whole plants better, they are not too large and not blocking too much light. I would maybe remove a few of the biggest fans that are blocking the most light but don't go crazy.

It my rooms I remove a few leaves every couple of days starting around week 3 but I grow in 10g pots under 1000w DE hps and my plants are much larger with a lot more fan leaves. Normally the last week I remove at least 75% of all the fan leaves to make the harvest easier and give all the buds as much light as possible right at the end.

Yea this is just a small grow...so I guess the 250 is enough light for them. I just hope the internode leaves/buds grow out more as flowering goes on.

Gaadaaammnn them bitches must have stretched hard as fuck! Dont worry though, that hps will take care of the end of flower for you. Just not the bottom.

Doesn't cfl= tighter internodes?

If space permits get the cfl on the lower half of the plant your 250w hps isn't strong enough or close enough(I see you've remedied the latter.

I wouldn't defoliate dude, the plant gets it food from the Leaves not the buds.I'd only pull off a leaf/leaves if it's unhealthy or damaged in anyway so newer leaves can take over n intake optimal energy or if I'm lollypopping (Try to lollypop next grow if you've the same setup)

i personally find cfl's give me closer internodes he got some stretch there i personally wouldnt touch them after 3 weeks in flower unless there are dead leaves or damaged leaves

good choice, as it's typically better to keep it simple until you have a few grows under your belt
LESS IS MORE IMO
patience is key and i swear by less is more when growing obvious at harvest this doesnt apply more is more lol

WTF?!?!? he hardly has any leaves in that photo as it is, what a statement.

And he's using a 250. Look underneath, its dark. Just stating what I would do. Like I also said I use only 1000s and my smallest room is 8k so its a whole different ballgame.
