Buds for Less - CFL BOOK

yes that is true however growing is not something meant to be right infront of you.... its a private issue if all are secrets were in a book wed all be in jail. yes i understand where your coming from but this site covers everything the book doesnt. the book i guess was more of a supplement to this site with the idea, "why type it twice"

That makes sense. The wording on the book should be changed imo though. It's marketed as a how-to book. If it were called a grow journal, I would have still bought it. No need to mislead the public.

of the guy that bums a cigarette,,,,, and then wants a light too. There isn't anything deceptive about the marketing of the book. I will quarentee the weight is accurate and if you get the rest of his books and dvd's you will get more information. What, you thought it was aset of encyclopedia's for $16.95. Please. VV:fire:

I bought the book, and would be willing to pay for any supplemental info. Don't paint me as someone who is ungrateful for something that was given to me--I paid for it, I'm happy with it, however, I still need a light--dig?

I did get a virtual encyclopedia of weed growing for 20 bucks shipped (Cervantes Grow Bible).

While I now know that I was wrong, it didn't seemed far fetched to think that I could get a complete grow guide for bud for 17 bucks. The typical grow journal thread on this site is more useful for actual growing than the info in the book. For the book I want, I would be willing to pay 50 bucks, it doesn't seem to exist though.

I got complete guide how to grow shrooms for free that shows you exactly what to do and is fool proof. I'm a noob, didn't know weed was so expensive or complicated.

I just wanted to know which books/dvds to get--not download for free or steal-- pay for. I don't need 15 lbs of herb, I just need enough for me to smoke and share so I can stop giving my money to people who do have the resources to grow 15 lbs of herb (rich just getting richer).

I don't have a lot of posts on this board but I'm not stupid.

I was just pointing out the fact that it is not going to provide what many folks buying the book expect it to provide. it's an entertaining book, well worth what I paid--but if you only want to learn how to grow--look elsewhere.

It's a grow journal, not a grow guide. Journals tell what was done, guides tell you how to do it.

growing isnt that hard..... ive used MG before but with the right lights and been fine

i agree. For most seed, the method(s) will be the same. The differences will be in nutes. All the info you seek(humble) is here. I do agree that finding it can be extremely time consuming, it's still easier than the Grow Bible(imo) as I've got it, and while there is useful info, there's a lot of superfluous minutiae, at least for a beginner. Ed Rosenthal's books are more for the moderate grower and beginner, Cervantes are way technical as to chemical make up and so on. I also believe SeeMore does have an HID book.
As to wiring a grounded socket will be safer. Itmay not look as if it can be grounded but if there are mounting screw holes, ground the socket there. DIY wiring is so much cheaper than buying the set ups. For me, 1 prewired CFL Mogul socket was $24, while un plug wired was $6 plus the plug and wire about another $3.50 or so. The lighting systems can be as expensive orin expensive as you could want..Ok NOT as inexpensive as I'd want*lol*

I really appreciate your input!

Writing a book is a learning and growing process.

Most books don't teach you how to read they assume you "know" how to read.

I know this is an extreme example, and I admit I made assumptions.

Every book makes an assumption. Clearly, my book made to many assumptions to be "perfect" for you.

Once again, I appreciate your input!

As a member of the group that this book seems to serve, I feel that I have been misled by marketing.

For what it is, it is absolutely great, I enjoyed reading it and I am glad I bought it. As picture book/grow journal it is lovely. I love all of the cool quotes and little weed trivia all over the book.

What I assumed ( I know, I shouldn't assume) was that this book was a simple guide to grow weed from seed to harvest that could be done with less than $100 spent. The 8 oz claim is taken with a grain of salt, all things sold have overblown claims of what they can do. I didn't even expect to get it done in less than 10 weeks ( I know most strains take longer). I did expect a book that would show me what he did. This ain't it.

I know for most of you who have grown (and some of you who have never grown but think that it is so easy) might not deem it necessary, but a book that takes you completely from A to Z would be greatly appreciated.

For example,

1 show exactly how to make (wiring, hammering, screwing etc.) and hang the light array.

2a tell (in the book) exactly the wattage and Kelvin rating of bulbs used.

2b Since hid lights are better, have an optional chapter on how to wire one of those Home Depot lights and make a cool tube and exhaust in a wardrobe.

3 use a more common and less expensive seed for the grow

4 Show exactly how to make a rubbermaid, wardrobe or closet set up with emphasis on ventilation/odor control.

5 Specify that the perlite being used is not Miracle Grow, as it is the most common and easy to get perlite people might pick it up thinking that it has no nutes.

6. Provide a simple troubleshooting chart that shows pictures of signs of common problems (pests, nute burn /defficency, over/under watering etc.) and solutions to those problems.

7. Describe the curing process completely--with pictures.

I can't think of anything else, but basically I'm saying there is a market for a practical indoor/stealth soil grow book book that holds your hand from A-Z.

Just to be clear, I did buy the book and enjoyed it very much. I'm kind of just making a request for the next edition.

I don't have any problems with book. I have a problem with the title. Let me explain:

If this book had been called something like "GardenKnowm"s Wonderful Grow Journal" I could have it on my coffee table and share with others. It is more entertaining than a grow guide--it has a wider appeal imo. With all of the interesting facts and pictures of the beautiful marijuana plant, I could have had this on my coffee table as a conversation piece.

I can't let anybody know that I own it cuz then they will at least suspect I grow (which I don't..yet).

Sorry I'm baked.

well there is a difference between a guide and a how to.... a how to is what you expected something like cfl growing for dummies.... a guide is just something to inspire, give ideas, and GUIDE you not take you all the way through..
well anyway great job on the book garden knowm

saw the book in the stores, interesting concept, should sell well considering everyone out there seems to be using cfls in some aspect... a lot of newbies will be excited to buy it... i think it's good you want to monetize your talents, and take advantage of the traffic RIU provides doing so...

good work... hope to see more forum members releasing books and DVDs... earn a little dough! ya know?

I'm in the process of doing exactly that with an instructional video. To pick up where you were left lacking by I grow Chronic, Jorge Cervantes, and SeeMoreBuds book and videos. This guy has experience in TV so he says working @ ESPN. Quality of the vids i'm not knocking. Material I am, good for him, he went around to different growers for about a year, got high with them and babbled here's what he's using, this grows fucked up from neglect, and stating some really obvious shit. Not stuff you could really use like making StinkBuds Aeroponics setup from scratch instead of being ass raped for thousands pushing somone elses "Aquamist" system. Or strains an average person could never get thier hands on. I do appreciate the effort, but 3 videos later it just seems like you had so much footage and not enough content that instead of one good ,long, well edited, flowing video, we got 3 with alot of filler.

So I put it to you like this Garden Knowm, Thank you for your time and dedication to putting out something we enjoy and relate to. If you would like to collab on a project thats currently under production, hollar at me. I'm still in prodution for another 2 months and will be in post production up intil my submission deadline for final copy in August.

Bottomline, people have to have something to work with a newb can do from scratch, thats what people are asking for, this is not what they've been getting...

oh ok now we see, you are here to save us all from these unscrupulous people that haven't been writing the encyclopedia. And of course you will do it professionally. The fact that you feel this attack is the right way to do things, any explanation of how left handed this is would be a waste of time. Hope you sell a million, or give them away, I don't care. Your not going to make a lot of head way on Rollitup. I love ya man, that does not mean I like ya. VV

Yeppers.

Her' my input.. I'm going to document a DIY build on light hoods and a double decker grow, then post it here as I've been asked to show how mine is..All for nada. If I can give some one an idea to make their grow better, then I'll have done what I set out to do... Now, if ANYBODY can tell me what the hell is a "Security Token" is, and how I find it,it's missing, I'll be able to upload the pics.

By the by Gk..I use nothing but CFL's and they are working GREAT!!! So much for the naysayers!*lol*
