Buds too dense!

Small buds foxtailing and rock hard.
What up?
The only thing I can think of that went wrong was that I hit them with 4/ml per gal of koolbloom once.
The rest of my pk doses were 2ml about a week a part
Can buds be too dense?
What else could cause super dense small buds?

Well you've got 46 posts, and you've been here since Sep '13, and you say you have a plant budding already...doesn't sound like anything's wrong to me ...just remember a lot of those nutrients are just exactly the same...except some cost more than others...all I use is DG Bloom nutes cuz I use a super soil and it feeds my ladies in veg perfectly for about 3 months...AND remember this too...LESS IS MORE...really...good luck man...and for anything more you'll have to post pics and more info...

Ive been growing weed for the past few years.
I just cut down some MK Ultra that had huge donkey dick colas and I have a random strain I was told was purple kush that yielded some super hard and pretty big buds without foxtailing.
I have a bunch of OGs and some headband growing in the same room with that PK that have tiny buds that foxtail and everything is super rock hard!
The buds on the bottom of the plant are bigger than the tops and they are super dense!
I left a lot on the bottom. usually I would expect a lot of larf from the amount I left, but I have lights hitting them from every angle this time so I decided to leave it on.
On some plants the lower buds seemed to foxtail less.
There are 3 600s and 2 1Ks in the room at the ceiling. The buds are not too close to the lights except for the headband.
Im growing in coco with 6/9 and some silica with a weekly pk boost.
Hydroplex/Koolbloom 2/ml
Hit once recently with 4ml, but foxtails were noticable before that blast

K yeah i see what you mean, Maybe its genetics?

You are wondering why there isnt just one big cola right?

If i could feel this picture with my own fingers i would but i cant fing through the screen

If she gets too dense she will explode and throw trichs everywhere.. seen it before, not a pretty site.
Just a ticking time bomb right now.. Good luck.

No... Im wondering why they stopped getting bigger but got super dense!
Ive never felt weed this dense before.

I have the same strain 4 weeks into flower with buds stacking that are about as big as the buds at the top of these plants.

those grown under cfls? ie had similar results under cfls, i think its how close you can get them is what makes them dense but they dont get that fat because they lack the power of hids, i dont know but thats my theory

If you look close you will see the buds at the bottom are fucking fat!
Usually those would be fluffy bullshit, but they are rock hard!
Some of the strains grew fat buds that are rock hard too!
Im certain its not a genetic thing because I have the same strains 4 weeks in that are stacked and have the same size buds already.
Im going to back off the weekly PK boosts to every other week.
Not sure what else it could be.
The room is 75-79day 70-72 night 60-65%rh 900ppm co2

pheno/gene typical expression, grindspoon is a strain that has a a high chance of flowering unusually(because it was bred for that) although ive seen the trait in several strains.

Yep, they look ok, how far are those lights away...a lil too far it looks like...you have some lanky stretch there
...I keep my HIDs (2-2,000w Raptors) about 20 inches over the majority of my tops, give or take a few inches cause some are taller...rule of thumb for lights, put your hand on top of your plants and bring the light down till the back of your hand is barely warm from the light...AND...by the time you have bought just some of the stuff you've mentioned, cost wise, I could mix up some supersoil and not have to worry about anything except what time to water :hump: and how I need to adjust the height of my lights...BUT...they do look healthy

That plant is 2ft from a 1K now.
Its a bit of a stretcher, but if the buds would have filled in instead of not growing it wouldnt look very stretched out
The buds on the bottom are bigger and rock hard.
What Im saying is that the room is dialed, but I dont know what happened to these small buds.
I did a foliar spray at onset that curled some of the bud leaves that I forgot about
Im guessing that prevented them from stacking more budsites and caused the density that Im seeing.
I havent foliar sprayed the latest batch. Well see what happens
Im telling you, these are so dense its freakish!

Yep...lol...I guess 24" is good :-P and while I don't have the foxtailing I do have a Blue Rhino that I barely lose any weight in the dry/cure process cuz it's so dense...I only lose around 30% of my weight ...so be happy there dense :weed:...and are you spraying in flower??? this could be a cause of foxtailing cuz what's happening...IMO...is the tip of the bud is getting burnt and receding in on itself...just my thoughts...peace...

One of the plants got a little tip burn, but it got close to a bare bulb for a while there... The rest dont have tip burn. Not even the headband that is nearly touching the glass on my air cooled 600!
I got fancy with some epsom at onset once!
Never again!
Here are clones of the same plant with the distance between the tiny buds at the start of week 4
Stacked!

I’m growing some buds right now and it is also ridiculously hard. can barely pinch them. I am also wondering if there is any downside to extremely dense nugs, besides longer drying time

Really dense is preffered, they can get rot-mold if there isn't proper airflow and humidity in check.

I know really dense is preferred , but in my years of experience I’ve never come across nugs this dense. Yes, airflow is crucial for dense buds . Cant wait to weigh this .
