Buds way smaller on one plant. Why is this?

Different phenotypes. You need to run clones if you want all your plants to be identical.

Even a “cold corner “ in the room can slow down growth
I don't think it is that, the tent holds steady at 78 day and 68 night. I scrog and some of the branches from the small plant are woven into the plants with the bigger buds. I'm thinking it's just a bad pheno.

Is intake near the plant? For whatever reason my favorite smokes tend to be golf ball or thumb size. The big donkydicks tend to be the last jars I go for. If anyone got that Slymer S1 with large colas hook it up.

No, the intake is at the bottom of my tent, about 2' below my Rockwool cubes. The plant with the bigger nugs is closer to the intake fan. I'll be curious to see how they turn out, but I'm planning on using that plant to wash and press. Trimming all the tiny buds might not be worth the effort lol

It's probably just genetic then, all things considered. Cut some clones, run em again, except opposite sides. See what happens. You may be surprised what the lil one can do.

could be genetic could be that you watered too much one of them.could be the dirt is different and you over or under feed.could be the light every corner is little bit different.could be the temperature could be that that corner is not getting enough ventilation soo co2 is a lot less present there....

There could be several reasons.

Genetics: It could indeed be a different phenotype. Even seeds from the same strain can exhibit different growth characteristics due to genetic variation.

Root Health: Check the root system of the smaller plant. If the roots are unhealthy or restricted in any way, it can impact bud development.

Disease or Pests: Check for any signs of disease or pests. Even a minor infestation can affect a plant’s growth.

Light Distribution: Even though they’re under the same light, slight differences in distance or angle can impact growth. Ensure that light distribution is even.

If you're growing from seeds, you may see significant genetic variation.

Below is a shot of two autos, same seed packet. Gelato, I think.

The main light is in the tent, above the big plant. I put a Vipar XS-1500 on the little one. That was the only way to light the grow.

And I had the little light because I had the same issue in a previous grow.

Lesson learned - one plant at a time. My experience has been that they are prolific but they have a mind of their own.

I got my cookies gelato from royal queen seeds. I had to pop 20 beans to find a keeper. Not much for yield, but the tangerine terps are delicious. Effect is nice mellow buzz with some get up and go energy.

At least 6 were like that runt one. Cured for 6 weeks, flavor was OK effect was junk.

What do you look for when you are pheno hunting? How far do you have to grow them out before you know if it's a keeper or not?

I normally grow from clones, I'm fairly new to seeds.

You can look for what ever traits you want depending on genetics. But I like to also look for ones that grow well in my environment, clone easily, vigorous growth.

I go for terpine profile, potency, and mold resistance. I could give a crap about yield. I'd rather have 6oz of heavy hitting than 20 zips of insence. The pheno I chose is a stretchy bastard, but it was the only one that did anything to me, potency wise.
I clone all my testers, weed out the males. Flower until the end, usually 70 days. Dry and cure for 4 weeks before sampling. During this time, I've trained the potential keepers out to make a mother. Then take your pick, grab your mother plant and clone away. Toss the others, or throw them outside if it's in season. I just hack whole branches and give it to family and friends. I tell them to dry and cure it, but what they do is their business. Losers

Thanks, I will keep that in mind. Would you be worried that this one is a herm? That's my main concern at the moment. I've never had one herm on me before and I'm not 100% sure what to look for. I don't see any balls at the nodes.
