I went to check on my plant today and it kinda of smelled like shit and when i looked in the pot was kinda a hole like something might have crawled down into my soil idk tho and there was a jumping spider jumping around in there i killed i also just transplanted it to a bigger pot 2 days ago and gave it nutes so could that be why it kinda smells cuz of the nutes?

I know this prob a dumb question but +rep to anyone that can give some advice and i was wondering would half rubbing alchol and half water work to kill any bugs in my soil thought i saw someones thread that said you could. Thanks

Spiders are good to have in your garden because they kill most invasive pests. Your plants might smell because of fertilizing them. What are you feeding them?

Yeah, I'd try some neem oil before doing the alcohol thing. You can find it at most garden centers and I've seen it at Lowe's.

Whacking spiders eliminates one of your better defenses. I know it's often a gut reaction, but try not to IN GROW AREA.

That said, wouldn't a sticky trap suffice ON soil?

Be careful with timed release nutes.

yea i feel bad now for killin it idk if i really killed it i kinda just pushed him down into the soil but hopefully he lived cuz i think the little pest that ate some of my first leafs might still be there i sprayed it hopefully spider and spraying gets rid of it, it better not eat any of my big leafs.

It's a fine line w/spiders . . . protect them too much and you'll be over run.
I used to capture them and put them outside . . . until we were over-run w/brown recluse boyz huntin' for nookie!
It's hard to remember to try and cope w/spider living in your area.
