I've hooked up about 10 like that and haven't had any troubles so far.(Knock on wood)

I don't think its the proper way to do it but i always use plenty of electrical tape to make sure no bare wires are exposed.

It's hard for me to sleep peacefully at night with a new, pro 250watt HPS system running...I'm always so paranoid something will go wrong. Are there any other ways of doing it?

Go to Radioshack and ask them how to do it, they have wires and adapter specifically for the fans.

I'm almost positive without even looking that someone on this forum has made one with how-to steps. Try to search it. Honestly this way is pretty safe as far as i know.

It isn't difficult to hook up the fans. There should be 2 or 3 wires on them. If it has 2 then it is usually red and black, occasionally white and black, or even sometimes red and blue like the radioshack fans. If it has 3 wires they should be red, black, and yellow. The red/white is your possitive. The black/blue is your negative. The yellow is no more than an RPM sensor for pcs, so that wire will not be used. To hook up the fans just get some quick disconnects from radioshack hook the males to the fan and the females to the power supply then hook the fan up in either direction until it works (hooking it up backswards will not kill the fan, it just wont work until you reverse the polarity). As long as you make sure the connections are good and there are no exposed wires you don't have to worry about starting a fire. Also I am a Radioshack employee . Hope this helps.

You can find these cabinets all over craigslist for
like 20-30 bucks..just check every day or so. Also home depot sells some decent cabs for 60-90 bucks. I think the best design space wise is to have a very small cab to keep some moms alive and put your clones right into flower.

That things shit, you can't put any weight in it and it's just a big light leak. It'll be half-covered in duct tape and reinforced with wood before it'll be useful.

Thanks for the nice advice. Nothings covered in duct tape or wood and no light leaks out. 6 plants are growing happily in there. Thanks again for the advice asshole.

You're welcome. Super smart putting an open fan right above the plants, that's called a light-leak in fact but I'm sure that's excluded from your list of light leaks cause ... light's not fast enough to pass though a spinning fan?

There's actually a dark cover over the fan.
