Building A Workshop

From scratch, or not, to place in backyard to move my grow into. Will want plumbing/electric. Flood proof being dtw coco grower. Bug proof.

Solar panels for power outages and to also save energy, I had family recommend it which means its worth asking. I checked it out, didnt seem like a bad idea.

Something like 10x15 maybe 10x20’. Crazy project. Me and roomates would feel better about it being out there.

I can double my flower foot print, grow tobacco which would make it even more worth while. Ac unit.

Wow, can 10K do it? 20K? Willing to spend next few years saving up for it. Or more. Id easily be able to do bubble and live hash rosin. No sweat about fire or flood.

Could happen faster than it seems, this will be the thread of that progress. Its waiting on me really, I was told I can, its prefferred.

My loss if we move but probably not an issue. Probably wont for 10-15 years easy. Might never, so Im highly considering this.

Just seeing what my biggest obsticles are from the bat, I know its going to be plumbing and electric but what else?

Just ran it by the owners again, theyre fine with it. Even all the digging and working theyll be doing. Just realized water/electric just needs to run to it from the house/pole.

Going to get a quote but need to know what exactly Im asking for.

Thats another thing listening to these pot casts breeders everyone saying they bet it will be full legal in couple years or so.

When legal its going be huge weight lifted but thats if they legalize it fully but Il accept any progress. It is possible by the time I actually get started on this.

Legal state 12 plants. Want to have two 3x9’ tents for flower 3x3’ canopies, 3 plants each tent, a veg tent. A closed in built closet for drying.

A 3x9’ tent for tobacco. Smoking all your life runs in the family. I probably wont quit by then but want to soon and get some years in saving money and enjoying the home made.

Not worried about neighbors, in fact everyone has a workshop but us, just looks like we are building one too finally. About 10x20’ easily.

5.5k doesnt sound bad, the plumbing and electric is going to be a heart palputator. Willing to do it though, my current setup is very small not sure yet if its even enough for my needs, may just barely be.

This would exponentially increase my footprint so I can do anything I want. I was not sure about buying a prefab or making myself. I know I want the whole floor to have a drain and hold a level of water if a 60g reservoir let loose.

To be continued..

Prefab vs from scratch, they probably need a foundation? Id think the floor comes first after plumbing/electric or about the same time?

Are prefabs more bug proof? How can I make it like a house in the sense of bugs being able to crawl right in? Will it be easy to cut out sections for ventilation and etc?

The thing about building from scratch it can be tailored to my needs. A separate part that houses the breakers and battery for solar panels..

Maybe, just maybe, a hang out spot to watch tv/play games smoke/dab with itsown ventilation so it dont taint the plant room.

Thats inspired by a workshop I saw before but mine will be more grow space smaller chill spot. Id be willing to upsize for it. Once its done its done.

Again Id want the whole floor in grow space with reservoirs to be able to drain if a pump fails, reservoir tips buckles or in my case rupture using fabric collaspables.

They are my go-to reservoirs its not likely to happen. I spent hrs talking with their customer service, great service can answer any question. Thats autopot flexitank.

They made a 360 gallon prototype. Very strong but its something I can sleep on if the work shop grow area can do that.

@Drop That Sound you mentioned something about a floor that can drain in your setup, could you explain again how you set that up if I recall correctly? It could drain was all I remember. Built into the floor.

Right now I have 24.5 square foot flower space half which is 2x2’s, tough to grow in and yields less. This would give me 54 square foot flower space. All 3x3’ plants flower.

I want enough for tobacco too which is a space taker like weed.

Edit theres lots of grows around me, lots of which have no odor control. Can see plants in their yard from another yard. Weed stores in every corner of busy streets.

Its been legal for a while here its like cali lol.

I broke bad and built my personal grow op into a 5th wheel travel trailer, on wheels ;)

I never really worry too much about fires, floods, etc. I don't even scrub for smell anymore either, because I have a long driveway. I can go out in it and no one bothers me, or stay hidden if someone comes by to visit or is up knocking at the house. I cutut holes right through the new floors I installed and put in drains, and even plumb them to drain any waste into barrels sitting outside, or directly into other garden beds nearby with flowers, etc. I can even reuse some of the heat from the flower room at night and duct it out into my small greenhouse next to the trailer to keep other outdoor plants warm at night. I got 50 amps going into my sub panel with 4 different circuits, which is kinda overkill for the grow, but I also run power tools just outside off the same circuits sometimes while still running lights/equipment without kicking off breakers or disturbing the plants...

I've had uninvited sheriffs come to my house on more than one occasion now, and walk right by it. Everyone out here in the country has a few travel trailers on their properties, so its not out of place at all..

If you have the property or space and privacy enough to park an RV, whether it be a travel trailer or motorhome.. thats the way I would go! 8-)

Best thing I ever did was to start building a mobile perpetual grow op. Now I'm busy converting a 45' semi dry van trailer into a microgreen and gourmet mushroom farm on wheels. No permits needed, and I even have farm use permits on the trailer and rig to drive it around within 50 miles. I also started a mobile greenhouse, and chicken coop, lol. My goal is to have an entire fleet of infrastructures without needing permits, or having the government tell me what I own.

I really just want to know what your tractor is pulling the trailers. How did you insulate the dry van ? was it a metal roof ? That shit sounds cool asf. 2000 Pete 362 with a 6nz pulling around shrooms lol

My property doesnt really have a way to pull a trailer in and out. Idk if that will be a issue with prefab structure to deliver and set up.

Its suburbs so in the city pretty compact. Fenced in. Only one side in and its narrow like 5’. A trailer is a little off putting noone has that but cant see everyones backyard around here.

Going to take a while to have funds like 9k a year saving. I want to though its like living a dream, my garden idk how much its going to produce but for sure not an endless amount like I want.

Electric bill sucks would be cool to invest in solar. Also wouldnt rely on the grid so if power went out it wouldnt matter.

Yea I don't really plan on actually driving around or moving my dry van\trailers, but that would be cool to take the whole farm directly to the local markets. I was thinking about setting up a smaller mobile greenhouse to take to the farmers markets, so people could take a mini tour, or even harvest their own fresh greens directly from the hydroponic setups, etc. Everyone else has to come early and spend hours setting up their booths, but I could just back mine in and be ready to go. Or take it along with on my routes when I get the home delivery service going. ;)

That sounds nice! Yea we contimplate moving into the country being a grower its a no brainer. We likely wont or will do both so this project is still worth it. It would be because I wanted to as well if not theyd work something out.

They own I help pay off so in a way im good no matter what. But yea my garden is pretty much a perpetual 3x3 veg and 5x5 flower, its not crap but will help me save to do this.

I really want to make hash rosin. I didnt realize the wet weight from fresh frozen being about the same as dried flower, stupid but hey you only get to get excited in this hobby so many times before gets boring.

Hash rosin will be the reason I can say I make something valuable because itll be years before I could find hash rosin at 3.5$ a gram but live resin on the other hand.. That some day might be 5$ a gram or less which scares me.

Realized passion is what would make me continue even if I was out done by the local industry. Heck passion is why we’re here helping eachother at no cost. I love this site! Haha.

I was about to say thats possible, need a new fence anyway and maybe can get one to be able to open up. Im trying to do 10’x20’ or maybe 15/20 while everyone is in agreement.

I may give up on tobacco growing plans because itll be harder to quit. Idk why its just now hitting me at like 30 yrs old ten years smoking I really should quit.

Lots of family smoked till 70 was fine but just watching a thing on bob ross dying at 52 of it rip btw but yea something about that woke me up. Not the silly commercials on it just time and reason.
