Bulb question

I have a couple of 18" blacklight fixtures and I was wondering if anyone knew of an alternate bulb I might be able to put in them.

They are this type

It says to only use 15w tubes but then again my 42w CFL is running on a light stand rated for 20w.

4ft flouro fixture and 4ft bulbs =$13 buck at Lowes, homedepot. make it easy on yourself..

I cant fit any 4 ft fixtures in my box.

I wouldn't put bulbs that are over the rated wattage. You're risking a fire. I don't have an answer to your question about the short bulbs but I'm researching it myself as I have one spare fluoro fixture that I'd like to put to use.

Yeah I understand the risks i put it on for 24 hours first to see if it would explode.

fire doesn't have to come from explosion. the plastic shielding around the copper could slowly degrade and then spark. in fact there are probably a hundred reasons that it's a bad idea.

damn thats shitty! LOL Those damn 2ft fixtures are like $20, which is robbery!
