Buried shipping container grow?

Very interested in this. About to pull the trigger myself and buy a shipping container, insulate and add power to it and throw on solar panels as well. Not gonna bury it tho, but also gonna build a roof so it isnt in the direct sun, gonna try to help it as much as i can to not get so hot and not be so open. with solar panels, gonna have to run this during the day. Very interested in this. Looking into a 40' container hopefully 40x10x10 and throw in 6 lights atm. maybe will upgrade to 8. but for now i only have enough equipment for 6. thinking 2 4x8 trays on each side of the container with 2 ft aisle in between. so that's about 16' plus another 4 feet' for room on the ends, so that's half of the container, plus maybe 16-18 feet for the veg room (gonna have a wall seperating the two rooms) and then another wall when u open up the container. so about 3-4 feet for any kind of storage or what not. and so when u open the container it's not BEAMING out light when i open it. Not trying to HI Jack thread. Trying to see what OP thinks of this plan. Maybe u can draw up plans as well. Cuz i am VERY VERY close to getting my container as well.
What's the price for this,
Iv got someone bugging me to set one up only a 20 footer though, but 4 4x8 trays would be nice like how you have drawn up.

So
Container
Insulation
Lights
Fans
Trays
Res's
And timers?

Oooo yeah and like a 5k or 6k generator?

Yeah, no, I get that, I wasn't referring to your above ground scheme that presumably takes place on property you already posses, I was referring to the OP's entire idea of purchasing land, excavating the land and burying a unit, building a building out of units around it, making sure everything is structurally sound and wired correctly, not to mention finding some sort of water source for your off the grid, middle of nowhere buried grow op and not-open-to-the-public mechanic shop.

Yes, THAT would be expensive as fuck. HEY OP just find a buddy who has land, with well and just pay him for renting a spot on his land. throw the container there, and there u go! give him an oz a month!!!

considering u need to buy all the equipment.

3k for delievered Container
1-1.5k for insulation
4 lights 4k unless u buy used
1-2k for fans for lights including scrubbers and inline fans if u go cooled hoods and exhaust inlet air as well
1k-1.5k running the wires for the container and control panels
500 for trays
100 bux for reservoirs
timers are cheap but lets say 100 bux if u get some bad ass timers
if u go generator im not sure at all what costs that is. but i'd go solar. panels shouldnt cost much. get a quote.
1k in Labor unless u do it urself or have friends who are willing to help u out for a smoke out n some dinner
2k for nutrients 500 for media and pots
if u panda roll ur room about 200
if u run co2 generator another 1k
mini split? or window ac? 5 ton mini split a/c 5k
window mount 28,000btu about 500-700

17400
+700 window
or +5000 mini split

18100 or 22400 + 3mths rent (if on ur buddys land) 3mths water 3 mths power and if u go solar ur prolly gonna finance, and if u go generator, then u gotta pay for the generator and gas

I am pricing the items all high end and selecting the MOST cuz you're gonna run into some shit and most likely its either gonna cost more. It ALWAYS does.
and if you dont run into any problems, you're gonna have some left over, cool. put that down on something i dont know what. rent. power. water. whatever. you're gonna use it.

And you consider solar cheap?

He could be talking about wind power, I think Coldsmoke is from the MatSu Valley, and its windy there. I'm starting to see alot of privately owned wind generators in other cities like the Kenai and Soldotna area.

At the very least the wind generator could be used in a grid feedback scenario where excess generation would offset electric cost.

Just saying wind and solar have a long return on investment. I have a friend who is an electrical engineer and thought it would be cool to setup a large wind generator to supplement his electricity. It was used but after shipping and installation (think massive footings and a crane $$$) the price was very hefty. He wasn't bothered, he said after 15-20 years it will pay for itself.
With in a year the clutch on the turbine locked up while the blades were spinning and it grenaded itself. Totally ruined. He never did fix it.

Bummer.. what brand was that?. Ya think something like that would come with a warranty..

I figgured somebody could run multiple smaller ones .5 to 1KW for power generation. Weld that directly to a connex. I know I saw one of the smaller ones mounted on a boat, I didn't get a chance to ask how big it was.

Its been so long I forgot. More of a friend of a friend. I'll try and find out. It looked old when I saw it. He bought it off of ebay. I wanna say it was shipped about 1500 miles and shipping alone was well over 3000, I just cant remember. My memory is foggy.

Ah its all good.. just curious how much 10Kw of generation would cost..

I knew a guy that was growing for himself and his son unfortunately he passe away but his hydro bill was
On average 1800-2500 per month. He installed a 200amp solar cost him 20k
And he ordered an altenator wind turbine from ebay for 1300$.
He had 20 huge batteries and he never ever had a power outage amd his son n wife are still leaving there hydro free.
Yes solar costs alot but one year of no hydro bill pays for it.

Graciously no
but you would certainly need to consider how . much your fuel is going to be

plus the generators themselves are very loud plus you'll have to exhaust them. both security risks

generators were popular back in the day when fuel was cheaper

nowadays solar cells are getting cheaper every day plus if you can set them yourself you save there

I plan on trying to make a small self sufficent grow cabin

but I will also probably have a gen for back up

but I will mainly try to be solar

Also jiji you must realize im no fancy engineer

I wouldnt pay to have it done me and my friends would do it

cause that's what we do

if only all those fancy engineers knew how many major things are built by drug users lol

not saying its a good thing sometimes cause there are morons in life
