I live in Colorado, and the average humidity where I live ranges 20-30%. I live in a cabin, no insulation , metal roof, and the average temp in the room is 82 to 84 degrees with the outside temp averaging 84 to 87 degrees.
I can't use window a/c's because the shitty landlord says he doesn't want the cabin to burn down because the wires are old., ( he suckered me into the place before I moved in by saying I could have a window unit, then after I moved in went back on his word, he says I can move before my lease but lose my deposit, I'm stuck until next May when my lease runs out, I'm moving then).
My plan is to build a 3x3 wide by 6 tall grow box running a 400 HPS , the room which the swamp cooler will be is a big 12x16 with 7 foot ceiling, the grow box will be inside this room.
Since I've always ran my lights at night coming on at 7pm and off at 7am, I'm not worried about the temp at night when lights are on, because it drops down to 58-to-60 outside at night with room temps in the mid 60s. It will be the day time temps I worry about when I have my lights off.
I know Swamp Coolers raise humidity but I used to live in Georgia and never had a problem growing in 75-85% humidity , and used a 400 HPS there too, but I did have central a/c that kept temps around a constant 70-72 degrees during the Summer.
The Swamp Cooler is my only option , or wait till Sept. to start my seeds and I'm not waiting
I don't want to fool with CO2 tanks, I could go with that, but this is also to benefit my comfort too, not just the plants.
As far as the power and amp draw, not worried about it, this Swamp Cooler pulls on high at 670 watts and 7.5 amps, and the 400 HPS light won't be on while the Swamp Cooler is running during the day, no worry on a breaker trip or safety concern. The window a/c that I have in storage that the landlord WAS going to let me use pulls 1450 watts and since this Swamp Cooler will be inside the big spare bedroom on the backside of the house the landlord will never see it, he never even comes inside, never even comes past the front door.
Like today its 84 degrees inside the house and 86 outside, with every door open and window and 8 fans blowing.
Will this Swamp Cooler drop my day time temp at least 10 degrees? I'm buying the 4600 CFM CVT2 model >

I've already got all the material (lumber/screws )for my grow box, my CanFan 9000 filter hooked to a Hi OutPut 5" CanFan and a 265 CFM squirrel cage fan for in-vent, its the big room which my grow box will be in that I want to control the temp, I can always order bigger inline fans later if needed.
