BYLROY's 1000w Purple Diesel semi SOG

Hi guys,

This is my grow journal that I've been meaning to put up for a while now. I sorta wanted to get my setup finished before posting a journal, but I've now realized that my setup will probably be constantly changing so I might as well just put it up and document the changes.

Here are the 27 Purple Diesel Clones that I purchased on 1/6/11. They are rooted in grodan cubes. I plan to flower 25 of them soon, keep one mother and maybe grow out the last one either as a tree or scrog. I haven't decided.


I bought them on impulse late at night, so I didn't have any pots or soil to transplant them to right away.

I wasn't able to transplant them until 1/8/11 into 2 gallon grow bags filled with Foxfarm Ocean Forest soil.


After transplanting them all, I put them directly under a 400w MH on an 18/6 light/darkness cycle.


Here they are 2 days after transplant (1/10/11).


The next day I started working on two 4 foot by 5 foot grow tents made out of 2x4's and black/white poly.




After several hours, I finally had a new home for my baby girls. Day 5 after transplant.

You can probably notice that the color of the lighting has changed. This is because I wanted to move the 400w MH into my dedicated veg room. For the next couple days, I will be vegging them under a 600w HPS. Once I flip the switch to 12/12, I will change out the light to a 1000w HPS.

Here is a sneak peak at my 24 square foot triple 400w MH veg room.


On the left are 25 freshly transplanted clones. 14 Trainwreck and 11 Purple Erkle. Again, I plan to keep one of each as a mother and flower the rest ASAP.

In the middle and right, I have some random plants that I purchased that I plan to use as mothers. I have 3 duplicates in there, so I plan to flower those ones as soon as they get big enough. The strains are:

2x AK47
2x Durban Poison
Jilly Bean
OG Kush
LA Confidential
Waikiki Queen
Afgoo
Granddaddy Purple
Odyssey
Sour Diesel

And that takes us to today, Day 13.

The reason I'm calling this a semi SOG in the thread title is because the 25 plants aren't going to fill up my 20 square foot grow tent. I will probably be filling out the edges with those random plants that I have doubles of from my previous post. That way I can at least maximize my space.

Once my mothers are ready to clone, I plan to really fill out my tents. For now it was too costly since I was buying my clones. From reading her strain description, I am really looking forward to filling up a tent with Jilly Beans.

Here they are Day 16. Today I give them all 1 quart of ph adjusted water. changed out to light to a 1000w HPS and flipped the switch to 12/12. This is supposed to be a 9 week strain, so estimated cut date is 3/29/11.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've working around the clock to finalize my setup. Got each room with their own 6" inline fan now.

The second 4' x 5' flower chamber is also complete. Just waiting for my Trainwreck and Purple Erkle clones to mature to fill it up.

Anyway, here are the Purple Diesels, Day 22 after transplant, Day 5 after 12/12.

I also just acquired this three weeks into flowering "Jedi" plant. I smoked a bowl of this stuff and was back at the guy's house the next day buying an 8th, this flowering plant and a clone that I will make into a mother.



This plant is fuckin' fire.

Here is an expanded view of my flowering room. Purple Diesels w/ 1000w Hortilux on the left, 600w regular bulb HPS in the middle and soon to be second 1000w Hortilux on the right.

And here are the 14 Trainwrecks and 11 Purple Erkles that will soon join my other girls in my flowering room.

I decided to rearrange my plants so that the taller plants are on the perimeter and all the shorter ones get the full light in the center. Many of the plants were starting to wobble from their own weight, so I purchased a bunch of bamboo stakes for support. Also, I've been running into problems with powdery mildew, so I also took this time to spray the plants with a hydrogen peroxide/water mixture.

Here is that Jedi plant. Her fan leaves are really starting to turn yellow and wilt. I really need to give her a shot of N next watering. I hope it's not too late.


Her buds though look scrumptious.

You guys won't believe what just happened. I'm upstairs testing some electrical circuits, with eyes on expanding my grow when I notice three or four cops creeping outside of my front door. They walk past my door and then circle back, at which point I hear a knock. For a second, I think about just not answering, but I had a feeling they weren't just going to do away.

I go downstairs, open the door, walk out and shut the door behind me, just like those ACLU videos teach. Apparently they were looking for some Lashanda bitch who was on felony probation and had listed my condo as her residence. I assure the primary officer that there is no Lashanda here, but that's not enough for him. He insists that I let them in to check. I stand firm and tell him that I can't let them in without a warrant. He says his warrant is in his car, on his computer, and that he's coming in one way or the other. I still refuse to give him permission, so he asks me to turn around and he slaps the cuffs on me.

Before he has a chance to open my door, I tell him that I was telling him the truth, that there is no Lashanda here, but that the reason I didn't let him in was because I had a legitimate medical cannabis growing operation inside. He goes inside, sweeps the house, realizes I was telling the truth, then asked me a bunch of questions about my recommendation, which states that I may maintain up to 25 plants (I have probably closer to 70, not including cuttings waiting to root).

He tells me he's talking to his sergeant and that they're still trying to decide what to do to me. They leave me in cuffs for what seems like an hour, while they go back and forth taking photos of my operation. Finally after all was said and done, he lets me go and lectures me about staying under the limit stated on my recommendation.

Now I need to find 3 more guys that will let me use their recommendation in order to up my plant limit and stay legal. The guy who runs that desk at my ID card verification center already volunteered so now that's 2 more to go.

Thankfully the cops didn't mess anything up. I'll have some updated pics tonight.

A few of my plants are starting to have leaves curl up like a canoe. I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. Anyone know?

I had a pretty bad week. First the whole issue with the cops, then the other day my Lumatek 1000w crapped out on me.

Luckily Lumatek is replacing it under their prorated warranty (after 3 years), so it's only costing me $110 and I'll be getting the newer model with the dimming and super lumens.

I only live about 90 miles away from Lumatek, so I should have my new ballast within a week, they said.

With one of my 1000w ballasts being out of commision, I had to hold on on flowering those Trainwreck/Purple Erkels. They'll probably be pretty big once they finish.

Tomorrow I'm going to start feeding them with molasses every other watering. We should start seeing those buds fatten up soon.
