CA 215 Growers: Do you rent? Better tell your landlord!

From Stop19.com

Growing your own supply of ganja may not be as easy as Prop 19 supports have led you to believe. Several California rental organizations are set to address the issue, and perhaps set standards outlawing cannabis gardens in wide sections of the California rental industry.

FACT: Prop 19 puts you at the mercy of your landlord by forcing you to seek permission to grow cannabis. (Currently, no statewide law specifically mandates that Prop 215 patients ask permission to grow their medicine.)

While growing your own supply is fun as hell, it can also be messy, dangerous, and can easily cause damage if done improperly. (Not to mention homeowners insurance is likely to rise and homes containing cannabis could face seizure by the federal government.) Considering this, do you really think many landlords will allow it? Ask yours and find out for yourself. Then vote NO on Prop 19.

^^As if I needed another reason to vote no.

You should not be growing marijuana in property you do not own anyhow, for the very reasons you cite in your post. Most leases address such things to begin with. If you are going to grow indoors, you should be required to secure the owner's permission. Are you one of the bright bulbs that advocate growing in apartments as well?

Prop 19 begins a new era, do not let growers scare you! Vote YES on Prop 19!

Are you kidding? Talk about discriminating against low income prop 215 patients. And I believe that PRO prop 19 groups are the "bright bulbs" advocating growing in apartments, that is what prop 19 allows isn't it? So what is your point exactly?

A landlord has the right to refuse to rent to somebody with a pet, a cigarette smoker, they have a right to tell you you can't put a garden in their backyard to grow vegetables, etc.... it's part of being a land/homeowner versus being a guest. Should be no reason why a landlord should not be allowed to say no to indoor gardens, they can definitely cause property damage, infestations, etc. If this is really why you're voting against prop 19 you're fucking retarded and have no understanding of the basic owner/renter agreement. My guess is you're voting against 19 because you sell what you grow under the guise of "medicine" to non-medicinal users or even medicinal users for a huge profit. Probably the primary source of income and only thing you actually contribute to society... which wouldn't be a bad thing if it were done with the intention of actually contributing something besides overpriced weed.

i'm with jackstraw. i have no knowledge of how this situation would go under current ca law, but i don't see what the beef is with a landlord stipulating rules for their rental property. if i'm a landlord, i'm certainly not going to have my rights taken away by having big brother tell me who i can and cannot choose to rent to and why. equating saying no to a grower to saying no to an ethnic minority are NOT the same thing. give me a break. "discrimination"...jesus.
