Cal Mag

Hey guys, just wondering if any brand of Cal Mag will do?
I am from Malaysia and it is kinda hard to get the good brands like General Hydroponics or Botanicare.

So I am looking into my local Cal Mag brand.

Is it all the same? Would there be any difference if I used a different brand of Cal Mag with my grow schedule from General Hydroponic Flora series nutrients?

Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

Yes there is a difference in which calcium or mag salt compounds are used for it. Also different concentrations, so look at percent cal/mag.
Your local stuff is fine, just have to look at the label, how much nitrogen /calcium /mag is in it. Some is made from Calcium Nitrate, so nitrogen will be higher. Just cut your base nutrient accordingly.

Thank you for the advice and information. How do you calculate and create a feeding schedule for your plants?
I’m actually trying to grow Amnesia Haze next. I want to make sure I prepare everything correctly.

Definitely made out of Calcium Nitrate, and I don't use General Hydroponic Flora series. Plenty of nitrogen in that, the label says 1 part CalMag/ 2 parts Bloomwell. That could take a good chunk of Veg nutes in Flora series.

Thank you all for the great advices.

It is hard for me to get any other brands out there as I am from Malaysia.
The local brands here are all sketchy looking and there are no websites to find references of its quality and contents.

Is it cool if I bought all my nutrients and post it here for evaluation to produce the best feeding schedule I should make for my grow?

It would also be a great learning experience for a new grower.

Thanks!!

i dont really know to much about the GH but in general for most nutes i hear its good to sometimes put about half or a quarter of the recommended dose especially when in the seedling stage cause it can stress the plant for most bottled nutes. But it also can depend on your soild cause some soils come already packed with nutrients so you can wait a little longer to start the feed you dont want to feed it if you dont have to it'll possibly end up just causing problems.Someone can probably give you a little more info on this brand as i have no experience or too much knowledge on this brand. Hope this helps somewhat and if able keep updating id like to hear how this works for you.:bigjoint:

That is what I‘be been reading too. I might have to do more self research on that.
Are feeding schedules fitted for all types of grow strains or do certain strains require different amount of nutes?
I’ll be growing in coco x perlite mix. Will pre-buff the mix before planting.

Thanks a lot friend! It is hard to reach many other good brands I‘be been reading on the forums, as my country doesn’t have it anywhere.
I’m lucky to find a supplier of GH. GH seems to be quite a popular choice from what I’ve seen on Youtube :D

i believe for the most part yes they are fit for all strains, but different strains can be effected differently. like maybe one can handle a little more then the other thats why its always good to take note on what you feed and the amount of nutes so you can adjust if needed for that specific strain

I used GH Flora series for several years. I grow in Sunshine #4 peat-based medium. I'd give half-strength dose as documented on the bottles up until about week 1.5-2, then 2/3 of what they recommend.

Strains are different in how much of each nutrient they use, so some plants will require the full manufacturer recommended dose or slightly higher, but very few. 2/3 was the default and was perfect for the vast majority of the strains I've grown.

Hello there orang Malaysia. Thats totally not true man. Plenty of companies in Malaysia that supply locally produced nutrients and imported ones as well. Lazada is my go to place for all my nutrient needs. Especially for hydroponics. Or you can go to Serbajadi.com or gardenshop2u.com. Both local online companies supplying all your basic gardening needs including nutrients. I was initially frustrated just like you and without proper research, spent so much money buying imported nutes from Ubuy.com but there is no need for that man. Even the most common and popular nutrient brands like GHE is available on Lazada.
