this is going to my first outdoor grow and i have 97 seeds. I'll appreciate all the help i could get or just come by and check my grow journal out and subscribe. see how everything turns out for my gorilla grow!
I want to see how you are going to manage 97 plants. Good Luck. All of my plants have roots now. Will only be taking a few more SSH clones and a few chemdog for this year.

I got several bag seed type sewed dry in feb now all lil seedlings. (directly in ground with top soil) and one weak lookin short rider seedling that popped yesterday in 2.5 gallon..it is femmed..and in my experience with how ragged and miserable it looks it is a girl...of the sevral bag seed i believe i can already pick out males by vigorous growth compared to others....im going for a may/june harvest and late season as well...keep a short rider perputally going got several more femmed of that. and the bag seed i will lst 2 of them.(its funny how the weed grows quicker than the rest of my stuff)
so i just looked at the pitiful shortryder and shes looking better....Ive brought her in the last few 40 degree nights. so her leaves are ready to get some sun today. Bout time......Nice thread my man......I see whereswaldo and the 97 seed medical 1st time grow ever dropped by.....(kookiness)

dirrtyd:

I've been doing two crops annually for decades.

I'm about 70 miles east of you. 38 latitude.

If you intend to flower past April 1st, be prepared to cover the plants at sunset and remove the cover(dense black plastic is best), 12 hours later, until the buds are mature.(This schedule minimizes heat build up in the greenhouse.)

I hope you'll look at my grow log. There are a lot of pix there, from previous years.

Most strains begin revegging about mid April.

Mel and Ed did a good job with their books(I have one from 1974), but the best books I've seen are Jorge Cervantes' efforts. JMHO

Yeah next year Im gonna do a greenhouse, help keep it warmer and dry. And easier to cover. Plus I can do a crop every few months. Great looking grows.

i read this whole thread and im interested to see how it turns out for you guys. im in nc so i should be at the same latitude as upper central cal. i've got 8 plants vegging indoors, and going to send them out april 15-30.

i have options of where i would like to plant outdoors. i have one garden set up that may receive 10 thru 12 hrs or less of direct sunlight, and then i have an area that will get maximum direct sunlight, meaning it will climb up to 14 as spring progresses. so is it smart to put them where they cant reach the maximum amount of direct light for flowering? and would it be smart to start the 12/12 indoors and then send them out? good luck to you guys.

THey need 12 hours ABSOLUTE DARKNESS to flower. The more direct sun the better. But they arent gonna flower in april unless you cover them so they have 12 hours complete darkness.

hmm. damn. makes it a little tricky than. but im up for the challenge.

edit; what do you guys use to cover your plants? i was thinking large black trashbags? but my plants might outgrow those. and do you have to seal the bottom of the bag so light wont come from the bottom? how do you protect against that?

Veggie thanks for the tips. Medi Mary nice pics I just used pots saving the holes for the Sativa's will put the indica's in some 10 gallon smart pots. Anything that goes in a black pot will be a one and done flower. Either I did not like the clone time or the nodes were not doing it for me. Want to end up with five strains after this year and they will reamin my line up. I know I will always keep the kananga a potent smoke.

I dont know about this :( . Mine have been out for 5-6 weeks andthere is almost no bud production, there are clearly bud sites with small clusters of hairs. but the rate of growth is stupid slow.I put 3out side and 3 inside under a 150w hps the indoor are looking great probably get at least 2 oz the out not so much, well maybe I'll let 'em reveg and go all summer then I'll get some real weight sence they're already 2 1/2 feet tall.

Mr Duke i feel your pain I have some that will probably finish then I have a few plants that defintely will be out until summer. I may try the dark idea that Veggie suggested if they are looking good at the end of the month. The sun we will be getting for the next few days should do the plants some good. Will feed and sit some out and harden others off this weekend . clone have been taken for plants in the ground if all goes well they go out 4/20.

Yeah I wanted to say it was the cold slowing them down. Its a bad spring to try this! But the ones I have that Im covering with a barrel at night are flowering pretty good now. And it only gives them about 2 degrees of protection. Im glad its not just me having trouble though. I was thinking I wouldnt be able to grow in my back yard even for a fall crop. Thought they were getting light pollution at night. Maybe I can grow without covering - in fall.

i know these are the hartiest and healthiest plants i've ever had outdoor. but idont think there will be a harvest from them, even if they started to really take off today it would be almost june when theyd finish I'm sure that theyd revert back to veg in that time
