Hey everyone, was wondering how useful these crazy bulbs would be for the vegetative through flowering stages (Excluding HID Lights).
They're pretty bad ass! I'm using 3 on 4 plants at the moment. heres the front:123.jpgand back:IMG_3665.JPG.
All 3 of them combined give me 1,575 watts with 15,750 lumens

What do you think? shall i add more bulbs? bongsmilie *cough* what kind of yield am i looking at? am i on course to burning my four 1 month old plants? I gotta say though, that these lights have been pretty solid till now (4-5th week)

PS I've switched from 18/6 to 20/4 on the lighting schedule for these past few weeks and they seem to be growing faster :)

LOLOLOLOLOL, No offence but you gotta do more reading in the cfl forums, Almost every page tells you how to measure watts with cfls. Hint its not 1,575 lol, Second, Every noob asks "what will my yeild be?" Not one person will be able to tell you your yeild. Watts, ventilation, nutes, soil, water, Ph, so many things go into yeild its not even funny. Third, If you can afford it get a HPS, or T5 for flower, you wont be disappointed. If not atleast double if not triple your lights.

Also IMO 24/0 for veg promotes best growth, Good luck with your grow!

Also more than likely you won't burn your plants no matter how many CFLS you put in there with the proper ventilation, My first grow had 25 26watt Cfls all around my plant all within a inch, never burnt one leaf

ahem you have 315 watts, the incandescent equivalent doesn't matter. 315W is still pretty good, what temp are they? 6500k?

As stated above, your only using 315 watts while a 250 watt MH puts out 22,000 lumens. There are advantages to using CFLs over HIDs but mainly that the lights can be placed closer to the plants, but the light quickly is lost and that's probably why you say they aren't working as good anymore. I would recommend using more, smaller CFLs for better overall coverage and less wasted light. My 23 watt CFLs put out 1600 lumens or 69.5 lumens per watt, while yours only put out 50 lumens per watt so they are more effecient as well. I think the 42 watt CFLs have the best lumen to watt output and then they become less efficient after that.

Born: I'm more concerned with the color of the light being emitted by a lamp because we're trying to copy what mother nature does only we're doing it on an accelerated schedule. During spring and summer when we're vegging there's a lot of blues and greens in the spectrum and during the fall when they flower there's a lot of orange and reds. The 6,500K rating on the rear of the package would make it a blue light suitable for vegging but not for flowering. To flower you'll need something in the area of a red 2,700K which you can get just about anywhere. Ref: chapter nine, Cervantes, "MARIJUANA HORTICULTURE." How much are those bulbs? HSA

18/6 has always worked better for me than 20/4 or 24 as well. 6500k is great for veg - for flower you'll want a 3:1 of 2700k:6500k. Like the rest have said, report actual wattage versus equivalent. Take Cervantes with a grain of salt when it comes to CFLs as he has never grown with them.

yup if u get like 4 42watters and use those with the lights u have now..ull be all set. as the plants grow the lighting needs to increase and be at max during flowering say if u veg under 250..u wanna flower under 400..ya dig? good peace

o ya and make sure u lay them bitches sideways or there poop.

Agreed ....18-6 is the best for me.people sleep, reptiles sleep, and even plants sleep.
