there is still some green but not much, but def does not look like the brown crap they show in most of the how to threads

OK, this one's kinda from left field.
After a 4:20 break the Hippie Gardener and I were talking about the coming harvest. She mentioned, "What would a pressure cooker do?". My first thought would be over 300 degrees would release the goods. We were also talking about tinctures, (and edibles). What do you think about an oil? I haven't even looked anything up yet. I was busy cloning and transplanting so I haven't done the research I usually try to do (or even much deep thought:eyesmoke:). Just a randombongsmilie:eyesmoke:?
Daniels:blsmoke:
wow seems I missed this, yes pressure cooker would ruin our harvest temp way to high, and honestly I have never made oil or tinctures so can't really help, guess you'll have to research it

Yea temps change so much.:eyesmoke: I'll start looking into some tinctures or maybe different oils. The Hippie Gardener got her Cannabis Prescription today so I can have more plants for us. I need to see exactly what the pressure cooker does to stuff. She used one to can veggies when I was a young-in' so I'll let you know what I learn. Thanks again

Ok peeps, here is an anouncement

gonna be moving to the new house this weekend which means I will be offline till things get hooked up, this could be my last post for a bit

I have cleared some space in my PM inbox (been busy lately) and I am sure I will be having withdrawal by the time I get back LOL

So here is the rule, no one is allowed to have problems while I'm gone, let's just get er done

Happy Growing All!

hey do anybody have any experience with flushing for two weeks or giving straight water to the plant two weeks before harvest?? does it really effect taste, harshness and the way the bud burns?

just too many opinions out there.

was going to give them water with nutes tonight, then on monday the 28th. then a really good flush til i see clean runoff. then i was going to do the drown the roots technique til the 3rd or 5th of july. is this enough flush or should i flush the 28th and the 30th then drown the roots? one gallon of water in my 5 gallon pots gives me about 1/5 of a gallon of runoff. was going to slow dry them. atleast 7 day dry.

Okay..He says add nutes back to the soil when the plant is almost done wicking... Which I guess takes a couple days like you said. Okay... Let me see if I have this right. Since I have a one gallon pot, I pour in 3 gallons of water then put it back to my grow box, and in a couple days when it's almost done wicking / (drying out) I add more nutes to the soil? ..Wouldn't that just burn the plant more...

Pineapple,

Some people swear by flushing, others (like myself) will tell you it's a waste of time and that the taste is all in the drying and curing process. From my perspective the major reason you don't want to cut off the nutes until the last couple days before harvest is that this is the most critical stage in the plants life, so denying it the nutes it needs is just hurting your final product. I personally give my plants their last watering with nutes about 4-5 days before harvest, then just water with some molasses added for the last few days, and everyone whose smoked my stuff has been really happy with the taste.

My drying process involves suspending the buds from the bars in a baby gate i have stretched between a couple stacks of boxes in a dark and cool corner of my basement. I DO NOT use a fan, and just let them air dry. I hang main colas by themselves, but all the rest are cut as a branch, trimmed, and the entire branch hung to dry as a single piece for about 5 days. After that they go into mason jars in a closet and spend between 10 and 15 days there curing. I usually open the jars and take all the buds out to air on a paper towel for about 5-10 minutes a day until they are starting to get a bit crisp (usually about 5-6 days), then seal them tight for at least 4-5 days before I consider them to be ready for smoking.

hmm is taking them out critical when you first jar them? or is burping them a couple times a days for an hour fine as well? well i cut off nutes monday of this week and they get the chop saturday probably. so 5 days without nutes. may give them one last watering of molasses before their chop. may just give them a watering with 2-3 tbs per gallon, to sweeten them up before harvest ;-)

Riddle,

Congrats on the move. Hope you get everything up and running soon. I've made some major changes in my grow during the last few weeks, and another is going to be happening in the next day or two. My flowering room has been relocated to my basement, my vegging area has been moved into my former flowering room, and the change has pretty much solved all my heat problems. The vegging room is still getting a bit warmer then i would like (mid 80's) in the afternoon, but it's a lot better then the 95+ it was hitting with the 600w flowering light in there. The basement has been so much cooler for my flowering area and the concrete walls absorb so much heat that I'm adding a second 600w HPS tomorrow.

As for the new strains, one of them I'm sure your familiar with- White Rhino. I've picked it up from dispensaries a couple times, and it's a pretty good couch lock high. The other strain is one I haven't been able to find out too much about, but according to at least one website it's supposed to be hard to come by because the seed company that bred it went out of business. It's called Blowfish, and it's definately more of a sativa then and indica based on the shape of it's leaves. It's really an odd looking plant, but it's supposed to be very potent.

Electric,

A lot depends on the current conditions locally, but I've found that If i take my buds completely out of the jar and let them sit out on a piece of paper for 5-10 minutes a day for the first week that the cure goes faster and there is much less chance of them developing mold. This last set I cured I actually had to "crispy" my buds because it rained all week and the humidity was too high for burping/laying out to be sufficient. Instead I set all my buds out on a table and then let a fan blow on them (on low speed) from across the room for about 20-30 minutes on day 7 of curing. The result was that the buds crisped up and actually looked and felt a heck of a lot like the buds from most dispensaries do, as opposed to the slighty moist and stretchy/sticky feel and look that I've been curing to. I'm sure the fan cost me a few trichomes off the leaves, but the results seem to be worth it. I've always liked my stuff a little damp and sticky, but I'm starting to come to the conclusion that drier is better, especially since I now realize that most of my liking for damp weed was that it burned slower/lasted longer. Now that I'm not buying the stuff and am harvesting more then I can smoke myself it seems a bit silly to worry whether an 1/8th last my 2 days instead of 3.

Riddle,

Harvested my biggest baby yet yesterday. Main cola weighed in at 83.3 grams before drying, and i have 3 secondary colas that weighed between 50-60 (as well as a lot of smaller buds that will yield maybe an 1/8th each), so it looks like I'm starting to get the yield side of the equation down. I'm not positive, but I think I'm actually getting close to the 1 gram per watt gold standard. If I assume this plant will yield 100 grams once everything dried (it should be fairly close to that) then I'm actually right on the money, because this is only one of 6 plants that were flowering under that 600w light, and it was the smallest of the bunch. I know I said it's the largest I've harvested yet, but the ones coming up behind it each had at least an extra two weeks of veg time and are all over 5 ft already, even though one of them just moved to flowering on Saturday. I may just be able to take a couple of Uncle Ben style signature pics here in a couple of weeks at the rate things are going. :)

Got internet at the new house now so I can get caught up with things, just spent an hour reading the Prof MJ thread (25 pages happened while I was gone) shame to see folks here not welcome a fellow grower from colorado???

Got a lot planned for the next few weeks so looking forward to gettin my grow on once again

Glad you're back. What you got planned? I put up pics of mini-Matilda yesterday. Here's one.
What Prof MJ thread do you mean? I'd like to check it out.
