Can a 400W Metal Halide Bulb Support a 4x4x7 Grow Tent Grow?

Hey guys!!!! Switching my lights from fluorescent tubes to a 400 watt metal halide (24/0), then to a 1000 watt high pressure sodium (12/12.)

I have a grow tent that's 4 feet by 4 feet by 7 feet high. Could a 400 watt metal halide light support about 12 plants in that grow area?

Also, would my plants suffer if I switch them from the 400 watt bulb to the 1000 watter?

Thanks for any info!

If you're planning on getting some descent veg time in, don't do 12. do 9. I just did 10 and wish it was 9 lol. Check out my journal. Needs updates but you'll see

I’ve seen the exact same set up produce some fantastic results. 1000watt hps bulb is a little much for that size space, but with proper ventilation and temp control, your plants should enjoy the intensity. 12 plants are going to overcrowd your tent and make airflow more difficult. Not to mention making trimming and watering much more difficult. Your plants shouldn’t stress too much on the 400 MH to the 1000 HPS as long as you correct the temp change. GOODLUCK!

itll work. tho a ceramic metal halide lamp will yield better results and you wont have to switch fixtures to flower.
