Can Any Seasoned Indoor Growers Answer My Watering/Nutrient Questions?

I'm going to be starting my seeds in jiffy pots for a week or two and then moving them to 3gallon containers. I'll be using fox farm ocean forest soil the entire grow. As well as Fox Farm liquid nutrients (grow big for veg, big bloom for flower)


What I need to know is:
How soon after I transplant should I start using the grow big nutes?
What nute to gallon of water ratio should I be using?
how often should I use nutes? and how often should I use just water?
how much water should I be using for 3 gallon buckets? and how can I make sure I'm not over or under watering.

I hate to sound like such a noob but it's my first grow and I want to try to avoid all little problems as much as possible. I really don't want over/under watering or fertilizing to mess up my grow. Just trying to play it safe.

the FF nutrients have a schedule u can follow, but dont use the amount they say, start with 1/4 strentgh and work your way up to see how the girls react. i feed with every other watering, and i water untill i have about 20% runoff
i flush once between veg and flower
as long as you have good drainage in your soil, overwatering shouldnt be a problem as long as ur not crazy about it.

I use FFOF as well, i recommend adding in 20-25% perlite

This is my first time not using fox farm stuff! I started using ff's feeding schedule. No nutes should be added until they are vegging, not just seedlings.

being your new to this I would also go with the gradual increase mystified says to see how they react first!

Thanks, I'm waiting on the nutes to get delivered with the lights today so I didn't know there was a schedule.

I feel like I'm going to regret asking this, but what is a 20% runoff
and I have to pick up my soil tomorrow from a hydro store, they should have some perlite there right?

When it is no longer a seedling. Allow it to grow big enough where leafs have fully developed. Its then in a 'growth' period. I would go 1/4 strength what the chart told me to use then when after its large enough and in aggresive growth go harder on nutrients or give it transition nutrients and start your flowering.

Every other watering until in aggressive growth, then what I used to do is do half stregth every watering. Some will say every other watering but to each they're own.

Don't go by every 3 days water, or every other day. Go by weight of the pot.

20% runoff is where 20% of the water you put in the pot runs out of the bottom.

Don't worry about 20% runoff. Not important. Yes they should have some perlite.

well you say "go by the weight of the pot"
how much should it weight/how heavy should it feel?

I tried to do a grow outside last year in pots and I'm pretty sure I overwatered because the leaves started curling under and drooping. but that was bagseed and now I'm going to try to grow indoors with some seeds from attitude. I just want to make sure I dont cause the plants any unneccesary harm seeing as seeds are a bit pricey.
