Can Anybody Explain Seriously Why Cannabis Is Illegal In UK And Alcohol Isn't?

I mean yeah so i enjoy it
but just because i enjoy it doesnt mean im being biased.

for example i like alcohol too but i would sooner see alchohol banned and cannabis legalised for the fact of the matter is.. alchohol is probibly just as dangerous if not worse.

alchohol is cause of anger and other crimes.
crimes that are drug related would be solved if it were legalised.

its sound like im ranting because i like the plant but im not. ( well i kind of am :P )
it would be overall beneficial for everyone.

hopefully the goverment do something useful and legalise.
would dramaticaly help the debt or financial crisis.

Good question for ANY country that has illegal cannabis and legal alcohol. Check out: "Marijuana is Safer: So Why Are We Driving People to Drink". GREAT info.

You've got no link to that (only one on the word "Marijuana" which leads to RIU"

As for the why's.. I think we all know why. Big company's would do anything to stop this from happening as they will lose shitloads of money if cana was available.

No, I didn't post the link. Sorry. I read of a couple members getting recently banned and while I always tend to push the limits in life, I don't want to get in trouble and lose access to this wonderful community. Good read though. Not saying I would do it, but there are several free pdf dowloads available. Personally, I figure the author has to support his family too.

Maybe we need to look at the end of prohibition as an example for legalizing weed. We need a modern day Al Capone.

aha we need someone like a major cannabis grower who has that much money to stay safe and so goverments cant arrest them and promotes it like crazy to the point the government just give up and compramise and make it slightly legal but prevent from making profit.

Philip Morris and alcohol companies... and not just that, but also companies working in the textile business (hemp would replace most of today's materials for clothing), also bio fuel is an option and so on...

OK I agree to this, everybody send me cash and once I get enough I'll start the campaign. Also please send me tons of weed so that I can turn into more cash, thus speeding the process. My address and bank account number are: hahahah :D Just kidding but that would be something :)

Anyway... who has more money than the mexican drug lords? And they won't do shit, since they are very well where they're at...

AND, now we get into another discussion. Well, actually 2. As for the Mexican drug-lords, they can fight the US govt and bribe the Federales all they want. They can surely secure more firepower than I. HOWEVER, if everyone that somked(or even 50%) grew, they would be out of work. Same thing if we stop our MJ war. Stop the meth, coke, heroin, etc. But when they fight the super easy to produce and VERY rarely harmful MJ, all they do is provide increased revenue through higher black maket prices. The feds are right. The MJ trade funds 90% of other illegal activities. ONLY because they make it so profitable. Let's do some math here:
10 MJ seeds = $80, water for those 10 seeds is minimal($40?), If you want a good harvest then you need nutes. $30 for FF +/-. Dirt is free, air is free, sunlight is free. A $150 investment to harvest (even if you SUCK, outdoors) 2oz a plant. Decent sale price of $200/oz and all of a sudden I have a $3850 profit. Can you do that with corn, soy, wheat, tobacco, fruit, or veggies? No. Hell, you can't do it with coke! Why? Because MJ is ILLEGAL!

I find it funny.. before i started growing I wanted mj legal but since im growing it, i want it to be illegal to the price goes up. if the government wants to put harsher penalities on it, so be it, price goes up even more.

but..

as a consumer, I want mj to be legal

I saw somewhere -but I forget where- that it was showing how the government actually made more money off cannabis being illegal (and keeping the prices high) than they would if it were legal and taxed. It may have just been fiction, but it was actually pretty mind blowing thought and I wouldn't put it past them. The jist of it was that when you crop out the economy is stimulated and the government receives the money through income tax, sales tax (if you have to pay sales taxes) and what not. For example, if a 23 or so year old makes 20k every 3 months, they are going to go blow their money on boats, televisions, houses, stuff like that and people will benefit from it, knowingly or unknowingly, and will in turn end up paying more to the tax machine.
