I just setup my mother room, temp is at 76*f and have a 400mh in there, but veg for 18/6 will my clones be alright 3 feet down and in dark for 4hr?Or should I just go back to florescent for 24hr?

I will rep for the help
 
You should be alright but if room running 18/6 they will be in the dark for 6 hrs not 4. I personally like to veg under 24/7 but there's a lot of debate on the subject.Is it possible to just put a box over your clones and run a small cfl light for the extra 6 hrs everyday ?would be my solution.
 
I take clones and put them in Rapid rooters under a dome for three days. The dome is on top of my t-5 4' 4-plex for warmth and I have an additional T-5 4' 2-plex about ten inches from the top of the dome. They are on 18/6 light schedule. Then I transplant into party cups and take out the gridded tray and put the clones back under the dome. The soil keeps rooters from drying out. Then depending on how they look, I start opening the vents until they are all the way open. I take them out of the dome and put them at the edge of the t-5 4-plex and move them toward more direct light as they grow and flex their new growth. I've had 100% success with this regime. I also take a spike and drill the rapid rooter out a bit and add a drop of cloning gel into the hole as well as coating my clone after I scrape the sides of the stem.
 
wow all i do is cut a branch and stick it in ph rockwool then into a humidity dome cfl's 24/7 7 days later clone been doing this way for 10 years only lost a couple . i like the K.I.S.S. method hello i take clones from budding plants half the time it's not rocket science. good luck

I hear you, but I have a 400w going right now, and if I can clone with my 400w I would like to go that rout.I got a 400mh for mothers/clones and 1200w hps for flower, so if I can knock out one 80w light that will be better for me.I think??

I was just really worried about the dark, because I always hear 24/7 light.

I use a cloner in my veg tent...the clones end up right in front of the fan and right under the light....they all get roots within 4-5 days because they have to...no spraying, no domes...ROOT OR DIE!

not calling you a liar but 4 or 5 days never seen or heard of a plant clone that quick.I've had cloners ,made my own and used about every method out there but simple shoe box a rock wool cube and a cfl light will give 100% results.yes you can clone just fine under a 400 hps hell i did it under a 1000 watter just got to have some common sense and not put it 12 inches from the light. At 4 ft the hps is plenty dim enough to safely clone under and if your getting wilting try trimming the fan leaves about half off this limits transpiration. (i mean cut the fan leaves in half not remove them)044.jpg045.jpgthis is a shark attack clone at 7 days and was pulled from a plant already budding notice no wilting with just a slight yellowing of leaves it now a healthy monster :leaf:
 
Mine always look like hell til they get their roots...but then they have them so I can let them then happily grow...I'll take some date pics when next I clone...
 
When I say roots, I don't mean like roots...but enough for me to feel confident planting the thing into soil or coco...I kill anything in hydro so I like to move them fast...
 
thank's everyone that helped me.I got this down better, so my clones say8-)

I since moved them out the mother room, and put them in my rooms, bathroom under the sink.That's the best place I could think to put them.Temp says at a cool 79f under my sink.
