Can I go to a 24 schedule?

Ok so I started two feminized seeds under 12/12 from seed about 2 weeks ago. There still pretty small, and I'm not really feeling the whole 12/12 thing anymore...the plants aren't close to showing sex, but if I switch to veg will it mess up the plant(cause it to hermie, etc.)?... Thanks

You should have started under 24 hrs light. It's fine to switch but you did it backwards to begin with.

24 hrs light to start then switch to 12/12 when ready to flower.

Thought anything over 18/6 or 20/4 was a waste of electricity?

It's debatable. Some just do it for ease of not having a timer.

Half as much light as it shoulda had for the first 2 weeks of life??? Indeed, they could very well be smallish for thier age.

The point of feminized seed, is that it is more probable... near guaranteed to be female. Which eliminates the whole sexing thing, and makes it easier and foolproof for new pharmers.

Are you planning for these to be mothers?? And thats why you want to sex ID early??? Obviously, getting them to show sex before taking clones would be kinda nice... but even then you want a bigger plant than what you have right now to take clones from.

I was just thinking about starting from flower and skipping the veg stage to hurry up the process, but as of now, it looks like I will get a very minimum yield, so I'm gonna switch to 18/16 to get this babies bigger. Yes, I am planning on taking clones

You can switch them back or you can grow them 12/12. You can even switch them back after you harvest them to reveg.


Obviously you get small plants if you go 12/12 which is good if you have space limitations and are using SOG method.

I believe in the 24 hr veg. ideology. 18 hrs is only 75% of your light potential, and according to people who have done more research than I.... will result in a plant that is 25% smaller.

You might consider Sexing by Proxy . Veg the mother on 18- 24 hrs light as normal. Take clones when you have some side branches that are ready for cloning. Put those clones on 8hrs light, 16 hrs dark to speed up the flowering process, making them show sex faster. Being genetically identical to the mother... the clones will be the same sex as the mother.
