Why would you want to hang a horizontal light vertically?
I mean I didn’t intentionally buy a horizontal light to see if I could hang it vertically..
these are just my circumstances. I have two lights and two plants.. I want them to mainly be under my led light.. and I want to use the hps for side lighting.

I’m going to have two 7 gallon pots.. I’m mainlining so they’ll be bushy.. and I’m in a 3x3 tent I just thing the best way to distribute the light would be to hang the hps on the side of the plants and have the led on the top. Thanks for tuning in bongsmilie

I can't see why not if the bulb says it's universal. All that's inside the hood is cap, igniter, and transformer. Manufacturer probably say it's horizontal so heat is dispersed correctly.
Cool.. I’m gonna give it a shot.. I just don’t wanna blow up my house. Or even worse.. my plants !

Is it a 250w?

The led and the hps are both 150 a piece
Dang never knew they made a 150w. I started with a 250w hps way back when, usually pulled 8oz with it but at that time nobody really knew what they were doing. Are you sure you won't have better results hanging it beside the LED horizontally? I'd take a yard stick or something around 3ft and hold it under your LED where the tops of plants will be at full bloom(5th week) and see how much spread the LED provides by how bright it is across the yard stick. That way can see if you will have enough spread with just your LED.

I have to agree with that.

8oz! Man that is my goal right there, if I could pull 8oz dry off of this grow I’d have to hold a RIU banquet :hump:
You really just got my blood pumping man I can’t wait :weed:

that is something I will definitely try.. I’m about to go rent a par meter from my local hydro store. So I’ll test both par and spread when I get the meter. Thanks for tuning in man

Will it have room in the tent for it to be used as side lighting?
I believe so.. like I said I’ll have two 7Gallon mainlined girls flowering in 9sq ft.
I can’t see them taking up more than 3sq ft a piece.. but I’m still green to this I could be wrong bongsmilie

Idk if I would use it as side lighting in that small of a space. You will probably have heat issues and it seems like it might be too close to the plants. On that light does it have a recommended distance? Like 18-32 inches away?

Only reason I ask is because it will have 9 square feet but if your supposed to keep it 18 inches away your down to a 1.5 foot x 3 foot growing area.

you might be able to put them all horizontal with the two hps's on the outsides but make them angle inwards to take up less space

I think you're going to need the side space for fans and stuff

As mentioned above, as long as the lamp has a U rating (universal position) and not a H rating (horizonal only) (which I haven't seen is years) it won't be any issue.
And as Nizza mentioned, an LED in the center and the to HPS angled towards center may be a good option for you. Like this: /--\ (sort of LOL). You could raise and lower each light independently.
You will diffidently want to have your ventilation game on point with 300 w of HPS and an LED running in a 3x3.
Good luck with your setup and your grows!

PS. HPS wattages come from 35 to 1000. I'm personally familiar with 35, 50, 70, 100, 150, 250, 400, and 1000. I believe there is a 600 also.
