it won't kill the plant if thats what you're asking. but i've done it before and its not worth it. its hard, but wait until it gets the axe, imo.

You can cut and manicure a single bud to taste. Just pick the ripest one and dry it quicker than you regularly would. I recommend putting it on the vent of your computer router for a day.

Don't do it! The bud will not be tasty at all untill you've flushed, harvested, dried and cured...curing is what brings out the smells and flavours.

He just wants to smoke it!
Or he might want to see how his plant is coming along. Nothing wrong with doing a test. Yeah, it will taste like shit but thats not the point, we all agree it will taste like shit. I do it from time to time and especially when I try a new strain. It lets me know what the plant is doing and gives a decent idea of how its going to be in 5 more weeks. It also helps you learn your plant and learn something about the plant at different stages. Its all good, he can take a nug to test just dont go overboard, just enough for a couple hits is all thats needed. Test away, your not going to hurt a thing, might even learn something in the process, just keep reasonable expectations.

Ok sure...to each there own. If i NEED to pick smaller buds off i just leave it for a washing and moke some good oil.

I guess too it's good to follow the the general rules while in flowering stage. You COULD inadvertently cause the plant to turn hermie...you might have some weaker genetic plants that are easily prone to this.

It is actually a good thing to prune off little buds at the bottom of the plant when they are budding. Then the energy of the plant can focus on the bigger buds. It will help the tops finish sooner. Just don't get greedy and do this too much. I prune a little bud off when my plants hit week 7. It will taste like leaf though. But the potency will still be there.

I'm curious how people think mothers and breeders are selected if the breeders aren't sampling before the plant's been harvested and dried. Only way I know of is to sample it while it's flowering before it's too late to pollinate.
