LONG PERIODS OF TIME WITHOUT RUNNING AIR THROUGH IT? THEY ARE AIR COOLED HOODS WITH GLASS COVERS..HOLES ON EACH END..SAFE FOR BULB TO RUN WITHOUT AIRFLOW???:joint::joint::joint::joint:

I will be doing it soon since I'm in the mountains and the average temp seems to be about 45F, so I'll let you know. A week or less...

Yup, I'll start a journal and that aspect will be covered as well as everything else, I'll be running the light a full 72 hours starting on tuesday, so I'll start my journal after I figure out my temp situation....

i'd be more worried about power spikes and outtages. i actually run two surge protectors before my ballast just to be sure, since my power tends to go out often in the winter months.

Of course you could run anything in your room as long as you keep the temp down. Using the right fan and an air conditioner you should be fine. My friend just finished using 2 kwatts in one room and they wern't air cooled hoods. Just used an air conditioner to keeps he temps down. I do love a/c hoods. Be sure to have a thermometer!

Like everyone else is saying, as long as you have some kind decent ventilation in your grow space you should be good. What are the dimensions and how many plants are you planning to put under it?

I have a 1000 watt hps that is the same way glass and the holes on the ends for ducts. I have NEVER had a fan going through it for like 2 years. I should get one but have never had a problem with too much heat

I am currently running a 1000 watt hps in a closet, heat is a HUGE issue with me. Mainly because i have not istablished a defninate air plan. My constant temp is around 86 and my humidity is around 18%. A light of that wattage produces alot of heat. and i had to invest and learn trial and error about venting my fan and the temperature. In the confined space, the heat build up is alot.

Im just warning you about whats goin down with my situation.

I big open door with a 20inch box fan blowing hot air out. thats pretty much it. It has an ac vent for the summer so that helps also.

im putting 20 master kush clones under each 1000 watt light..and im going to keep them pretty short so im only vegging for about 2-3 weeks
